Potter will have us playing good football. That's all we need, we are not realistic challengers for the big prizes because we are not prepared to bankroll it so let's just at least enjoy watching the team on a weekly basis

Hahaha I was just telling my GF about this thread and the possibilities, she said "What about that Liverpool manager, they've been rubbish this year haven't they, maybe their manager can go to you and they can have Mourinho to replace him. Sometimes you might just need a change of scenery for everything to get better for both sides, just like in real work. Actually I don't understand why teams don't just swap managers with no one getting sacked. And players too - same principle. Can't you just swap Alli for someone who is good but not doing very well this year at another club?" So there you have it, the ground-breaking insight of a non-football person (but who to be fair has to listen to all my ranting about it). Can you imagine (any of those things)? 😄

I don't see why people would be unhappy with Potter. He plays excellent attacking football and Brighton has stayed up multiple years. This isn't a club that is a guarantee to be in the top flight. Look at how many times they have booty-blasted us. They have been incredibly unlucky this year. This a top-half performance in a deep EPL this year. If we don't get ETH, Potter should definitely be the 2nd name on the list.

I think trying to take a guy like Rodgers from Leicester is lame. They have been better than us the past few years. They have won the title more recently than us. Why are we entitled to their coach? Simply taking the best players and coaches from the teams that beat you is one of the lamest things big money clubs do. Hire our own coach and develop our own players. This is the way. Sure they have had less success at a top-level, but neither did Poch. That's how you develop these emotional connections with coaches and players, by giving them their shot at a higher level. Selling out, going against our principles, and hiring a guy like Mourinho is what got us into this mess. Let's at least enjoy and be proud of our club.

After what, 5 seasons? Meanwhile Parker and Potter both relegated after 1? Come on man.
Potter isn't relegated, but you can try and predict that.

Howe averaged right around 43 pts a season in the PL. With an average GD of -18. He also had Calum Wilson for a long haul of that, who has been a consistent scorer in the PL. He also had Joshua King get 16 in 2016-17.

Potter is at 34 with 5 games to play and had 41 last year. We will see what his average GD is. Neil Maupay has led the team with 10, and now 8.

I think we are comparing two lower league teams here that share many similarities. I just prefer Potter's system to Howe and I think he has a much brighter future.

That's my quick take

I'm here for the Potter meltdown, personally, because it will be epic and I will be okay with Potter as the manager.

Parker not so much.

I like Potter as a manager and think he would do a great job for us, especially if we allow him to have the team he wants, but the meltdown from so many fools on here would make his appointment all that much sweeter.

The fact that you prefer his system is a fair point. And I guess if we’re honest we are kind of to the point where a system may be the most important thing.

I really don't want Rodgers. He's not exactly chomping at the bit to join us either.

He has a very good squad at Leicester. But he bottled top 4 last year. Dumped out of the Europa this. Average at Liverpool. He's not that great. Always thought there was a touch of David Brent about him to be honest.

I'd rather go for someone with something to prove. In absence of a really outstanding candidate, that's Potter. Good coach who deserves a shot at a bigger club. If he fails or someone better comes along next year we can switch without losing a ton of money.

Mildly interesting (and totally irrelevant to Spurs manager...) story on that actually - in a year's time, she'll (hopefully) be upgraded from GF to wife. Wedding already been moved twice now, was May 2020, then May 2021, now June 2022. Honeymoon however has only been moved once. So if we do end up going to Mexico in 6 weeks time, we will be having our honeymoon 12 months before we actually get married! Crazy times! :mourloopy:

Sorry, I'm getting in the way of the actual conversation about the new manager. Fuck knows who I would or wouldn't want, I just don't know any more. But do any of us have good reason to believe that Levy is genuinely trying to get it done now rather than wait until the summer? I guess he must be if he met ETH. If so, is that the best thing to do? :/

TFC members can have girlfriends?
Question Mark What GIF by MOODMAN

And with almost 13000 members of this forum odds are there must be a sizeable number of TFC with boyfriends!!

I really hope Levy doesn't go into a relationship with Potter with that kind of thinking. Would be totally unfair on Potter. Whoever we get, we need to back them, give them some time.
