I don't really know anything about Rangnick

Why is everyone going crazy over him?

Because he was a major factor in the development of the RB system which has produced a lot of talent and brought in many players, for cheap prices and turned them into quality players. Look at the list of players posted on the previous page that he was linked to bringing in.

Now admittedly that is more of a case for him being DOF, but considering that is exactly what we need and is arguably more important than getting a new manager, I think a lot of people are hoping that whether he is manager or DOF that he would bring those skills.

I also think that since he turned down Chelsea for not meeting his requirements when they offered him their position that if he came to Tottenham he would do so only if Levy gave him guarantees on how things would work. He has been linked to other jobs and turned them down so it doesn't appear that he is desperate to just get any job.

Edit:

Forgot to add his influence on a lot of the coaches having success around Europe and a style that is having success and likely the way most fans want to see us play.

Takes one to know one????

Has he actually done much as a manager though ?

As I can't see Levy bringing in a DOF

Has he won anything outside the pub league that is a Rangers-less SPL? Seriously, the last few years have been the absolute definition of a one-horse race.

Potter meanwhile won umpteen promotions and the cup in Sweden with the equivalent of Macclesfield. Beat the Goons at the Death Star too.

Rodgers at Liverpool - well he blew the title in the most ridiculous way. 3 pts at Palace (3-0 up with 10 mins to go) and one at home to Chavs would have done it. And the next season - buying Balotelli? Really? A player that NO ONE has been able to motivate?

By the time he was sacked he'd lost the dressing room, no one was bothering to run.

Potter has never managed a big club, but Rodgers has and failed. Potter as far as I can tell has never lost a dressing room.
Good arguments but I really don’t want either of them although would go for Potter if the choice was between the two

Slight feeling Rangnick could lead to a disastrous power struggle with Levy. If he's embraced in the right way it could be our key to competing at the top of the league again. I'd be all for it, maybe he manages for a while and helps appoint the next coach? Exciting link.

Took Hoffenheim from the Regional Liga (German answer to the national league) to the Bundesliga and established them there. Had a big impact on their scouting and training setup.

Then he went to Schalke and got them to CL semi finals and a German supercup. Then he went to Leipzig and took them to the Bundesliga before taking over as sporting director for them and building their team. He then took over again as manager for the season between Hassenhüttl leaving and Nagelsmann coming in and got them to third place in the league.

He is seen as the founder/promoter of Gengen (sp?) pressing and a lot of the philosophy that guys like Klopp, Nagelmanns use.

His managerial record is not as great but he hasn’t been at many places you would expect big things.

If Levy isn’t giving him DOF like power it is doubtful he will come in as he already turned down other clubs that didn’t give him what he wanted.

Apprently Rangnick has been 'offered the job' (dubious sources).

My concerns are:

1. May struggle with Levy's DoF tendencies.
2. Rangnick is hard to type.
3. Also hard to pronounce.
4. I suspect it doesn't rhyme with anything, but not sure (see 3).
5. So far, he's the only candidate I like that we've got a chance to get and I don't want to open up in case I get hurt again.
