He cannot do a quick deal , he thinks if it goes smoothly he has left money on the table, it’s only a good deal if the other side find it painful. At least that is how it seems to me
This is very flawed thinking, it puts you at a disadvantage on further business if your initial offer is always unreasonable

It is bonuses and money. Same as Kane having to hand in a transfer request to force a move. If Kane hands in a transfer request and formally states that he wants to leave we don't have to pay him any loyalty or other bonuses that exist in his deal. Even if he ends up not getting a move.

I assume it is something similar for managers.
 
Football contracts are a joke.
The concept a player loses a bonus if he asks to leave in writing but keeps it if he makes employing him untennable is insanity.
It should be the other way around.
Where is the loyalty in acting like a **** until you get a move?

I hate this 'lack of financial backing' angle the club have about them now.

We all know Levy wants Poch because he knows he's worked on a shoestring budget before, and can expect him to work that way again.

We have been left behind by Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd, and are in danger of falling further behind them and the likes of Leicester because the board are more focused on profit being made for their own pockets.

We've had Harry Kane for his best years.. Let him down. We have Sonny, he'll the next to want out.

The sad reality is that Conte is more likely to get financial backing at a club like Everton than he is here.
