If I'm Daniel Levy and I'm serious about Conte and taking the club to the next level, I'm gonna get on the phone to Kane this morning and say;
You're the best striker in Europe. If you weren't at Spurs, I'd buy you for Conte. If we bring him in, does this prove we're serious about this?

If Kane says yes, I'd be going all in on Conte. Salary? Yep. Staff? Yep. Transfer budget? Yep. All of the things.

Conte is fantastic at rebuilds. One of the best in the world at developing players. Rebuilt Juve from mediocrity to guranteed champions for a decade, rebuilt Chelsea with Marcos Alonso and Victor Moses as key players for that squad, did the same for Inter Milan. Almost every player who plays under him develops and he has an amazing eye for finding players who suit his system. He is exactly what this club needs right now and I have no doubt we would be in a much healthier position if we appoint him and back him.

I watched quite a bit of Brighton this season and their football looks nothing like Peps. Sure they have alot of possession and do alot of passing but there is no aggression and their press is either awful or non existent. If anything it reminds me of the football we played under AVB. Lots of possession with lots of passes but no cutting edge. Would undo everything we built under Poch and set us back 15 years if we appoint Potter imo.

Well we obviously watched different games but every game apart from Woolwich I watched Brighton this season they where great including against Chelsea, Liverpool and City.

In regard to Conte he obviously can get a squad going but it’s the quality of City, Chelsea and Liverpool we have to compete with, we know Conte is a short term manager. So we would need to get the squad at that level quickly, I can’t see that without decent investment, we have some very talented players but we are short in a few areas.

We've turned into a squad of absolute bottlers.
It's painful to watch them play utterly awful whenever there is something at stake.
Yes I agree. And I'm not saying Jose was a good match for us, but I recall a good few matches last season when we threw away our lead over lesser opposition teams. Mainly with games then ending in draws, and a couple loses. if we'd have not thrown those games away we'd be in CL position now. So it's more like the team spirit was low than our actual capability. Even the big teams ie Liverpool City United, now Chelsea know fine well if we start purring we can beat them.

We do need some new defenders and at least one new midfielder along with Skip. but mainly we need a rocket up the ass... and some better tactical awareness.

I thought Mourinho was the man to change the mentality but it actually got worse.
Alarm bells started ringing in the first half season he was there when we had 3 or 4 chances to get top 4 and we simply did not show up. Home and away to Chelsea, away to a poor United really spring to mind. Winnable games, all 3. Lost all 3 with terrible performances.

Woolwich fan on Talksport and one just phoned in and both shitting themselves if we pull this off. Sounds like they're watching the news as much as us.

I blame Jose as much as the players last season except Kane Son Loris. Sometimes it seemed like there was no strategy except to counter attack at every opportunity. So we go 1-0 up and then forget to counter attack again until the last 5 minutes when it's 1-1 against mediocre teams.

Thing is at home against mid or low table teams we should be playing possession football and if we're going to play counter attack save it for the difficult away games.

Our squad isn't much behind the other top teams except Man City. It's why on our day we can outplay them all.

For all those who believe everything they read.. Dan is a lot more reliable than all those Italian newspapers you cry about. Better than Sky Italia and better than TalkSport.

Agree with others that this has a very Dybala vibe to it

That and the january window where we supposedly went running around Spain with a pot of money throwing in "Phoney" bids for Aguero , Rossi etc

This whole process has gone on for far too long , bordering on complete embarrassment , if we do get Conte then you can say it will be justified but if we don't then the club has reached new levels of incompetence

They're suggesting that Romano is close to Conte himself.

Just asked him if Kane staying is a deal breaker. He's not committed to yes or no here. TBH, I can't see even Conte convincing Kane unless he arrives with half a dozen quality players.
Kanes going nowhere this year, its in the clubs hands and Levy has previous with these situations.

If Conte does come in, we can be sure Kane stays for now, and then its about how next season goes - do we perform/improve significantly enough for Kane to want to stay on longer

I'm confident Conte will sign. I just think people jumped the gun by making out it was all but done when the flurry of reports from Italy came two days ago. I think the reality is the club conceded PSG are blocking Poch and that deal could not happen so that gives Conte a free run to the job ..... but that did not mean Conte would instantly accept. He'll want his terms approved and has the leverage to do that. If it takes a few more days than expected then so be it.

It's already done don't forget. Hercules is a psychic and is 2-3 days ahead of the press.

People genuinely believe the first thing they read. As soon as a source of no real reliability says theres a problem, everyone believes it!
In reality there are some details to iron out. If they are ironed out or not remains to be seen.

But bringing in a manager the caliber of Conte, who is willing to just walk away, is always going to be complicated. So in the mean time, every back and forth of the contract negotiation is being breathlessly reported in the most dramatic sounding way possible, leaked to English sources by Spurs or Italian sources by Conte's camp.
