Frustrating but they do seem to be attempting to get a potentially top CB signing over the line. Not all doom and gloom.

I've got no doubt another reason Levy likes leaving it late is to save wages.
Why get a player in June and pay him £100k a week to go on holiday when he can sign him at 11.59pm on deadline day and save a ton.

I remember Clive Allen said Levy leaves it late every year as he enjoys it, the frantic last minute dealing. Terrific, but its to the detriment if the football side every year and it also rarely works. Allen worked with us as a coach for 9 years under 4 different managers so i'd guess he has more of an insight than most.
