Van Dijk has been injured for a year. De Ligt had a scrappy year. Dias and Marquinhos are up there.

The point I'm more trying to make is people demanding us spend a mountain more for a weaker player.

See my Harry Kane comparison above.

Thing is we ain’t getting Varane, if we bid for him he would have most likely said no. Romerio it seems is our only elite option for CB and we all know what happens when you buy plan B, C, D’s your likely end up with Njie types who you just have to sell later on.

If Atlanta are messing us about then yes move on but if they had a price from the start and they won’t move down a lot then there becomes a question of ambition. If you want to be the club charging the highest ticket prices in the league and expect fans to show then you put up or shut up.

There are developments with Atalanta & Romero. Let’s just say they keep changing the goalposts, which has now infuriated Juve and the player. Anything else I say will compromise my sources. Suffice to say I am extremely confident.

I keep saying the same thing, we have funds!

Lucas & Stevie not for sale. Japhet is not available for a loan, unless a remarkable loan exchange opportunity (for example) comes our way. NES concerns with him is his injuries he keeps picking up. He is on very specific diet and training plans.

Three specific youngsters, aside from Dane, has really impressed NES. Skipp has blown absolutely the staff away with how good he is.
I can confirm that the above is entirely fanfictitious bullshit, dreamt up by the mind of a basement dwelling 15 year old pretender.

Not sure how far behind I am on Romero but told club still expect it to happen. Hoping today or tomorrow. As I say though I'm not sure how far behind I am on this. Still want another CB on top but it's Romero first, other wise our second CB options may change.

Likely to be at least one more out this week maybe 2. There's is serious interest(I know of) for Sissoko, CCV, Winks, Bergwijn, Moura although Nuno seems keen to keep Lucas now.

Kane still not for sale.

I can also confirm that this man knows less than Jon Snow, and is a basement dwelling 40 year old virgin.

That escalated quickly!

MK Dons supporters seem happy enough with their striker options and consider it a slightly strange move. But I guess if he's not good enough to earn starts ahead of them then he won't be good enough to play for us. At least they try to play out from the back and move the ball about, Milwall was an awful fit for him last year.

But what if paying that price for Romero effects the money we can spend on a ST or other targets?

Do we just continue to spend above our means on every player now clubs know we'll do it? Are we Barcelona?

I can see this from two perspectives. The first is that Atalanta know we really want Romero and decided to jack the price up on the guy at the last minute. The second is that Atalanta says "we want 55". Levy says "how about 43?"
"We want 55."
"How about 47".
"55"
"52?"
"Fuck you asshole. Its 65 now."

Can we discuss realistic targets though please.

Would you spend the entirety of the Kane money on Vlahovic for example?
No but you are not making a solid point. You are comparing Kane to varane, who are in two totally different price tiers. Your point that a player that is more expensive should always be the currently better player is not how it works. Future value is important, not just immediate value.

Agree. The Sky Italia article says €40 to €45m with add ons. So thats £38m to be paid up front max. That doesn't sound like we can drag out that well worn 'moving the goalposts' excuse. I'd say thats a pretty fair price for someone just voted the best centre back in Serie A, who has just turned 23 and won the Copa America. Again as you say this starts to come down to ambition.

Atalanta can fuck off. They keep their Diego Costa lookalike and we should look at other options. It's such as shame Schuurs and Lacroix are not available this summer but who knows maybe in January.

Well that is a question for the club’s board and most importantly owner.

Do you speculate to accumulate or do you risk decline. Our stadium is set up as a huge money maker but got fucked for a year because of Covid, Joe could easily lend (not give but lend with interest) to cover the short term. If not I would rather he sell the club to someone that actually gives two fucks about the club (note I am not blaming Levy for this). Our debt by the way is 30 years roughly with cheap interest for the stadium build, we are not in danger of doing a Leeds, certainly no comparison to Barca debt which is short term and wage related.

If we don’t get the money then ideally you make the first 11 the best it can be and we have needed to shift probably 10 players this summer so between that and the huge wages off the book what’s remaining I would hit priorities. Considering the importance of CB then yes I would spend the money even if it risked Scarlett or Son Being played as forwards because if we go into the season with let’s say Rodon getting injured we have Dier and Sanchez as our CB paring which is shit.

We speculated to accumulate with Ndombele, Sissoko, Sanchez, Bergjwin and Soldado.

We didn't with Eriksen, Lloris, Dembele, Vertonghen and Alderweireld.

If we had actual proof of overspending working at Spurs then ok. But we don't. Our most successful signings have been relatively cheap.

Oh shut up. Your opinion on Rodon is nonsense, end of.
Sorry Rodon is a world beater then when he was our 4th choice CB last season behind an ageing Alderweirald who people say was good to get off our books and Error Prone Dier and Sanchez. I know Jose is not good at developing players but if Rodon was ready he would have played more often ahead of those players. We needed to sign a top quality CB and RB last summer but we went and signed Doherty and Rodon.

It is plausible that Rodon could become a very good Premier League defender akin to someone like Dunk but it is unlikely he will have the time to develop at Spurs.
