Expect we'll go quiet for a day or two and approach Atalanta again with an offer around €45-50m. Maybe a little more, they'll either except it or they won't and we'll move on to cheaper targets.

I like Tomiyasu, but not enamoured with the other names I've seen mentioned. Hopefully there's some others being considered not yet known to us.

Could someone give me an example of a successful overspend transfer by Spurs?

Im trying to think of one but can't.

Sonny is undeniably our most successful signing over £20m and even then, that signing has turned out to be an absolute bargain and again a sign of prudence.
Jimmy Greaves. We paid £99,999 for him in 1961 which was the British transfer record at the time and by the time he left us in 1970 he was the top goalscorer in the club's history and remains so to this day. I'd say we got our money's worth.

So Tomiyasu was all but done 3 weeks ago and now we seemingly have to loan Tanganga to make it happen? I'd love to be optimistic but this is all starting to seem horribly familiar. Early window hype, this year will be different etc only to be scratching around late in the window. Again

Loaning Tanganga out also means we can't sell Dier & Sanchez as we wouldn't have enough CBs left.

And if we can't sell them, we won't be able to afford quality CBs.

So far all our rivals have done diddly squat bar United anyway so not overly annoyed about this....yet.
No one outside of Leicester, Villa and United have done anything of note because its been non-stop international tournaments all damn summer. Sometimes you can get it over the line (Gil) sometimes not so much (Tomiyasu) and everyone coming off Euros/Copa America is on holiday.

It's very frustrating.

So to sum up the last 20 pages...nothing new has happened in the last 24 hrs.
Well worth reminding all those who are telling Levy to pay the extra 10m Euros that Romero is still on hols having played his last game on the same day as Harry Kane on July 11.
So no way paying extra now is a smart move. Maybe later but not now.
