We have lost Bale
We have lost our backup ST
We've lost our best defender

NONE of these have been replaced and its 2 weeks before the season starts.
This is just not good enough

And to replace our best defender it needs to be someone the calibre of Romero. All the top 6 teams this summer bar City have invested in a quality CB. We cannot get left behind.
Signing the likes of Milenkovic , Zouma , Vestergaard etc.. only widens that gap and to be honest its a complete WASTE of money

I understand some are like don't waste too much time on Atalanta but how about we just pay what they want. We may need to pay a couple of Million more but because he comes in and improves that defense we'll finish higher in the league and therefore we'll get that money back in prize money. Spend to accumulate.
 
Why would you waste weeks with Atalanta and then not get the deal done eventually (hypothetical)

Why would you sell your best CB without being close to sign another CB

Why why would you consider instead of buying 1 great CB spending that money on 2-3 mediocre ones

I don't know who has this attitude whether it be Paratici or Levy but its disgusting and has no place in this club.
 
We are close to Atalanta's asking price for Romero.

Just pay the extra money. Just do it. He's our top target and he's a special player. Don't miss out on it

I understand Paratici will have a budget for the CB and it seems we have enough for Romero but it would mean we spend less on the 2nd CB. Who cares? Just buy the quality CB.

Quality over quantity ffs.

Every year a solid, well prepared preseason is sacrificed for a few million in bargaining power.

And more often than not it shows on the pitch, and managers have even alluded to the challenges associated with it haven't they?

Just watch when spurs make a big profit way in excess of the money saved over haggling at the end of the year too....

(assuming no more major stadium lock downs)

Yep imagine how good it would've been to have certain players in at the start of pre season . Manager could've worked with them more.

If we sign a CB soon (hopefully Romero) will they even be available v City?
 
Another thing to consider is that all the club's we are negotiating with to buy their players will be waiting to see what happens with Harry. If Harry forces a move and we receive a massive fee then immediately selling clubs will up their prices. Ka-ching :levywtf:
