I don't think so. I have not heard of them being difficult to work with prior to the latest "reports" and even those aren't really saying they are wankers or doing anything difficult.
It is by no means a disaster for Romero and Rodon to start together. People seem to think Romero is one of the best CBs around so he should be able to lift his partner's level and Rodon has shown plenty of promise anyway.
Toby is finished at the top level which is why he has gone to Qatar for peanuts instead of a top club so no keeping him was not a solution.
Tomiyasu is an upgrade on what we have at RB. Especially in the lopsided fullback system as Reguilon can't defend so we have to accomodate for that.
Lucas/Bergjwin are fine as the 3rd workhorse attacker with Kane and Son. Also depends how we set up. We may play with two up top in which case neither of them play.
Besides it's not easy to find a RW of Son's level for 50m never mind the 20m we can likely afford. Maybe in time Gil can be that guy.
City's lineup will also be worse than last season given the international disruptions for them.
Plenty of runner-up 'achievements' so probably.
I don't see what they're doing wrong really. They decided they wanted 55m for him and likely are holding out until they get it in a payment that suits them.
Rodon is worse than teams above us 3rd or 4th option CB. So yes it would be very bad if he is now our starter let alone how good Romero should be. There is no reason that a club at our size should have to have our 2nd choice CB not be good enough on their own and be "picked up" by his partner.
Toby was and currently is much better than any CB we have. If he is finished as a top level CB then bringing in worse players like Rodon to replace him does no good. After talking about how many things are an upgrade over what we have now I am not sure why Toby being an upgrade on all our CB's is suddenly ignored by you.
Once again, being better than what we have now is not good enough Tomiyasu would be worse than what everyone around has at RB. We need to be trying to match what other top teams have not just improve on Aurier/Doherty. Playing a FB that has limits is a terrible plan, especially when is are already limited in attack in other areas of the team.
Lucas/Bergwijn are not close to good enough to partner with Kane/Son. Last year with Bale contributing 10 goals in the PL it wasn't good enough and we relied on Kane/Son way too much to reach 7th. Lucas and Bergwijn have shown nothing to indicate they can match Bale's output.
There are plenty of RW options out there that are upgrades on both that don't cost 50m, they don't have to be at Son's level just at a level that is an upgrade over Lucas/Bergwijn.
City's line-up easily won the league last season, they have much less reason to worry about their squad compared to last season. Our will be worse, not because of international players out but because we have dropped quality. Our first choice line-up with every player available will be worse than the team we had last year.

The real world is not Football Manager with unlimited cash we can't just buy 4 world class players to solve all our problems in one window. As long as we are improving the squad each window we are moving in the right direction.
Yes we have lost Bale's goals but he only showed up with 10 games to go and we started the season fine.
We have plenty in attack if Ndombele and GLC finally deliver as they should, with Kane and Son ahead and a more solid defence behind. Not to mention a more attacking style of football than Joseball.
A lot of people on here said Nuno was the same as Jose just without the trophy wins.
So we'll have to find out how it goes after a few matches, see if it is Jose part 2b.

This is a better XI than last season. Skipp and Dele could also be in that midfield as we still don't know if GLC and Ndombele can work together.
If we can somehow sign a defender for 15-20m who is better than Rodon and an attacker for the same amount who is better than Lucas great but I am doubtful we can.
I think a lot of people on here talk rubbish.
We haven't signed Romero or Tomiyasu
We don't have Romero so no he isn't better than Toby.
Tomiyasu is not better than Aurier who started last year or Tanganga who we already have and like Romero is not here.
Skipp likely better than Winkssoko so one area that we improved but likely not in the starting 11.
Bale being gone is a big issue we have yet to fill and have zero credible links that we will fill.
The BS strawman "this isn't FM" argument that not a single person is angling for is garbage. Nobody said we need 4 world class players. We need clear improvements, improvements that other clubs make and have used to pass us recently.
Going into another season hoping that we get the absolute best out of players is a terrible way to go. We have repeatedly seen the results of that before. Nuno has shown nothing to indicate that he will have more success in attack than Jose. His whole time at Wovles was a similar sit back and hope individual talent can save you from having zero plan in attack that Jose used.

And we've lost Gareth Bale and probably Harry Kane
That line-up is not better and certainly not when you look at the improvements teams around us have made.
GLC-PEH-Ndombele have shown in the past they don't work together. Taking out Toby's passing ability in the back 4 makes the inability for PEH to move the ball an even bigger issue.
That team will have massive issues moving the ball from the back to the Kane/Son and with GLC and Ndombele having to play so deep and Lucas unable to pass once again all offense will have to come from Son/Kane individual brilliance.
