Season starts tommorow and we’ve barely scratched the surface of addressing the areas we need to.

Attacking wise we’re actually worse than we worse last year even if Kane stays, we’ve not improved our midfield and the worst defensive culprits from last season are all still here.

A lot of work to do. Stop fucking about trying to loan that right back and sign the cunt. Get rid of Aurier, Sanchez and Sissoko. Ideally get at least a forward and a proper midfielder in.

Skipp improves the MF from last season… agree re Sissoko and Aurier, Winks is on that death list too. Sanchez and / or Dier not needed either

Yeah things may change but i'm pretty dissapointed to date. Quite like, on paper at least, the players we have brought in but we still have no semi decent right back, we need another centre back, we still lack creativity and we have 1 striker who wants to leave. Aurier, Sissoko, Winks, Sanchez all still here. Given up on any hope of shifting Dier and Doherty.
I still think we're weaker than we were at the end of last season because Romero replaces Toby but its likely Moura instead of Bale. Not shocked by any of this though.

I was actually just making the point that 90% of his highlights reel is nutmegs, I wasn't comparing him to anyone else. But, as you bring it up...

As someone else has just said, stats don't tell the full story. GLC looks usefully involved more than Deli does. GLC doesn't easily concede possession the way Deli does. GLC doesn't huff up his shoulders in a sulk, or alternatively just laugh, when he tries something and it goes wrong the way Deli does - in those situations, GLC runs back like crazy to try to atone for his error. He also presses much better. I don't completely ignore stats - that's as stupid as basing everything on them - but I do also let my eyes interpret the play as I watch (on internet I mean) the full 90 mins of every competitive game we play. And for me, even despite his continual injury set-backs, GLC has looked to me like he brings much more to the team than sub-par Deli.

I'm not anti-Deli by the way - I'd absolutely love him to get back to his best and start competing for a place in the team, and even the national team - but in the last couple of years, for me he has been a long way off that, and some way behind GLC. In my opinion of course - it's a subjective topic, you're welcome to think differently. :)

He's had a very good pre-season with Kane, LoCelso, N'Dombele, all missing, and Skipp coming back into the side.

Hit the woodwork twice against Woolwich and was pretty much our main midfielder/attacker in season friendlies plus he linked up well with Son, Berj and Moura.

Same here. Still we persist with players that just haven’t turned up year after year and expect this will be the season things change.

I hope I’m wrong but i think we’re looking at a firmly mid table team as things stand.
