Before we played any games, on paper I wanted us to sign a couple of centre-halves, a right-back and keep Kane.

We have kept Kane and signed 1 centre-half. But now I have seen us play and how Nuno wants to set up, I think we might be ok with the 1 new centre-half. We still need a right-back unless Tanganga improves his distribution, but he might. So we can get away without a right-back IF Tanganga stays fit.

But now (after seeing us play a few games) I think we need a wide forward to complete the front 3, next to Son and Kane. I think that would be the biggest "difference maker" to our season, a quality player to replace Lucas/Bergwijn, with those 2 being squad players rather than regular starters.

We could, perhaps, go big on such a player, as it's also a bit of insurance should we want to sell Kane next summer. Though hopefully, such a player would elevate the team, we'd be successful and Kane would stay and be part of it.

Who could we get though? I don't know. I think Traore isn't this player, but I also think he'd be better than Lucas or Bergwijn, so I'm not set against us signing him. But I'd prefer an actual goal-scorer, a player who can be like Son. Could Gil develop? No idea. But if we only sign one more player, this is the position I'd like to see us improve on.

Gold on all our potential sales:

Unless a huge bid arrives for Sanchez in the final two days of the window, a move away for him would now be odd.

football.london understands talks took place over the former with the hope that Spurs could potentially move on both Serge Aurier and Matt Doherty.

Moving on both of their experienced right-backs looks to be a step too far at this current stage, although the hope is that Aurier does at least get his desired move.

Spurs have had interest coming in to them or Ndombele's agent from a couple of La Liga clubs in the French midfielder but neither approach satisfied both the player and the north London outfit.

Cameron Carter-Vickers is now deemed fit enough to be able to move on following his ankle injury

Buys:

Problem for Tottenham is that many of their moves in recent days have hit dead ends.

Among the players Paratici spoke to Barcelona about were right-back Emerson Royal and Ilax Moriba.

Ndombele staying makes a move for another playmaker in midfield unlikely unless a bargain deal arrives in the window's final throes.

As clubs look to free up space or funds in this pandemic-hit market for most, signings that are too good to pass up will suddenly become available and that is where Paratici's vast network of contacts will give Spurs a huge leg up.

At the other end of the pitch, Espirito Santo and Paratici's desire to bring Adama Traore to the club is currently on the rocks due to Wolves' desire to keep the player and shun offers for his services, despite the winger being keen on the move.

With the money involved it had been a case of Traore or a striker, with the Spaniard's arrival expected to push Son up alongside Kane.

With Wolves standing firm, it now remains to be seen whether Tottenham move for another winger or try to bring in a striker to play alongside or support Kane.

Bissouma seems a non runner. Brighton would be crazy to sell their best player on deadline day. He’ll stay.

He would like to leave if a bigger club comes in for him, he doesn't want to extend his contract at Brighton which she only two years left on it. Brighton have lined up Niasse at Lille justin case something happens late in the next day and a half.

They're different. McKennie would be a good player for us. We have three midfield spots, we need Gio/Ndombele to step up and claim one of them if we're to be more of a threat going forward. I know Dele has some goal threat, but he does not use the ball progressively from midfield. Dele, Skipp, Hojbjerg, McKennie would be good competition for the two workhorse spots.
Nuno wants high energy / pressing in those wide midfield positions. McKennie could add depth there.

I think Skipp is showing good potential to develop as the central defensive mid. That's a position where the progressive passing can come from - thinking of a Busquets, Jorginho or Carrick, in an ideal world. Obviously those sorts of players are few and far between, but Skipp is someone we can develop and is already playing beyond his years.

In the meantime, maybe an attacking right back would help us the most going forward. So not necessarily a more creative player in the midfield. Liverpool are the prime example of high energy midfield 3, creating from the flanks. I think Nuno has something similar in mind.
