I can understand not signing a midfielder as Ndombele is staying (have 6 senior mids).

Even not going for a striker I can forgive... if we bring in a goalscoring RW for cover. But if our only transfer today is Emerson Royal that isn't fucking good enough. It would mean we replace Bale, Vinicius, Lamela with just Gil!

i'm now almost convinced that Ali Gold is only used by the club to stir up things, rather than having anything of any substance.

If the 'official' spurs news outlet says "Spurs are going to stick now", wont that make any possible sellers less firm and maybe a little nervous? It changes the narrative from desperate to ambivalent, potentially strengthening our position?

So I don't really believe anything he has to say and am convinced we will sign Emerson and maybe a winger or striker. I also think one of Aurier, or Doherty will leave but it might just be a loan for a season to cover wages, and get off the books.

Some kind of counter must be given, surely?
He's 1 year younger than Dele Alli and played 146 less games. Given large chunks of his career have been at teams like Swansea and Lille, surely he should have been racking up appearances.
I never looked at Sanches before he joined Lille, so I can't comment on what happened to him earlier in his career. But I watch a great deal of French football these days, and after an iffy start at Lille, he really won me over. As a matter of fact, I was a lot less enthusiastic about watching Lille when he was unavailable through injury. On a technical level, as an athlete and by virtue of the fact that he plays the game with rage, I like him a lot, and think he deserves a bigger platform to showcase his talent.

This is true. I'm thinking of downgrading him to 2nd tier behind Fabrizio Romano actually.

Not because he isn't honest in what he reports, I'm sure he reports what he hears. But the Spurs officials definitely feed him what needs to be out there.

With regard to striker position, we mustn’t sign a player just for the sake of it. Scarlett can take all of the minutes that Vinicius got and it’s impossible for him to be worse. I’d rather develop him that get someone shite on loan.

The strikers worth signing weren’t doable this window.
