Yeah, there was no grandstand appointment, that is, unless you count the best defender in Serie A, and 2 of the hottest prospects in Europe in Gil, Sarr, as well as an fast, attacking RB who can speak same language as defs and mids and will give Aurier and Doc reasons to actually fucking focus.

Oh, also we kept the best striker in the league and locked down the best winger for a long term contract.

#Sissoko.

:saha:
Everything you just said is so rosetinted it’s actually hilarious.

Romero looks a prospect sure, but he’s had one standout season in his career so far and was never very highly rated prior to this season, so much so that Juve were happy to sell him. I of course hope he turns into the beast we all believe he can, but as of now I’ll reserve judgement and personally don’t believe he provides an upgrade on Alderweireld.

Gil tbf is an upgrade on Lamela and looks a real prospect, but Sarr is someone none of us have seen play and is a hit and hope signing that won’t help us for some time even if he does become a big player.

And I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but Emerson is most certainly not a fast and attacking full back. If that’s your description of him then I can tell straight away you’ve never seen him play.

Then we have the deadwood situation and although it’s fantastic Sissoko is gone, we still have Aurier, Doherty, Sanchez, Dier, Winks and a clearly perpetually unsettled Ndombele on our books with no prospect of any of them leaving.

So while it can be painted as a very solid window, when you dig a little deeper it’s really quite disappointing.

Maybe, but I think Ings was an excellent signing for them, as is Buendia. I guess jury out on the Leon Bailey signing but he could do very well for them.

I'd have happily taken Ings, but I don't see why their window should be seen as better than ours....

Especially when you consider they lost their star man and we kept ours.

Kane stays.
Romero > Ageing Toby
Emerson > Doherty/Aurier.
Gollini > Hart
+ Bags of potential in Gil & Sarr
+ ???

vs

Grealish gone.
Ings - Solid signing
Beundia - Decent player.
Bailey - ????
+ ???

United have done the headline deals.
Chavs/Lukaku probably the biggest impact.
.....After that we've done as good - if not better - than anyone esle.

We never ever have a complete squad. It’s always missing one or two important pieces. It was a nice market but we need another striker and midfielder
Its why we nearly win things but why we don’t win things…..

We have done some “tidy” business this window but not really done any “game changing” business…

Goalkeeper back up has been upgraded.

Romero basically a straight swap for Toby, who has youth on his side but that balances out with non proven EPL experience which Toby had…

Gil adds a healthy fit choice to the squad in place of the not so fit and healthy Lamela…

Sarr we won’t get to see for a year….

Thats basically it, so not really a game changing transfer window (as it stands)

What a start to the season tho, and one thing that can’t be bought is attitude (maybe Ronaldo could be considered buying attitude) and actual effort, which the lads have shown so far….
But if this good start hits a bump, which it almost will then this thing could collapse like a deck of cards quicker than we think….
