Do you frequent lots of other fan forums? Can't get a lot of sleep if you do as you're on here a fair bit.

If, as I suspect, you don't frequent them, you're hardly qualified to state that they don't mention Wigan, or any other club for that matter.

I wonder if Soton fans use Portsmouth as an example when talking relative success against pots won?

I don't know you see, I don't frequent their forum...

Is the only way to know things about other clubs is to frequent other teams forums?

chin up lads.

could be going into the season with Braithwaite as the only recognized centre-forward (Barca if Griezman to Atletico rumours are true)

EDIT: Forgot about Aguero

I am really, really tired of seeing Liverpool's incredible success despite not spending a lot of money as justification that anybody else can easily do the same. Your spending budget is really important. How you spend it is really important. The fact that one club managed to spend so incredibly well that they overcame a relatively small budget is not justification that spending doesn't matter or that anybody else who doesn't accomplish the same on the same budget is an abject failure.
Ok. So let's spend like the Chavs.

Oops, sorry, we don't have oil slave money or dodgy ex-soviet million laundered cash.

Only clubs that have won the league in the 21st century that possess finances similar to ours are Liverpool and Leicester. They both have spent incredibly well. We don't have any choice but to try emulate them.

I don't understand where some of you come from.

They were midfielders.

It's not the job of the CB's to police them when there are forwards in the box.

If our midfielders are dropping deep to cover for the CBs struggles it has an effect and I might have missed it but do goals count less when the player who scores is deemed the responsibliity of the MF by ionman?

Whether any one wants to believe it or not, we've dodged a fuck ton of pot holes by not splashing cash. And signed a few donkies by doing so, as well.
So in a way this is like saying a lot of random civilians are alive today because cops don't randomly shoot into crowds. We've dodged "potholes" that we as a club have identified as what we need. That's not an indictment on personnel recruitment it's an indictment on player evaluation/target acquisition...and also not a valid argument against "splashing the cash".

And just because they've not had success elsewhere doesn't mean that is how it would have played out with us. No one knows how Berahino would have panned out in the early days of Poch. And anyone that thinks they do know is either delusional for believing it or a moron for stating it. Too many variables to assume.

Now I don't have a problem with the basic setup of our financial matters (ie being financially sound/sustainable). I've always felt that Levy is never going to pay for the final bit to get us competing. My problem has always been that we don't fill the gaps in the squad, improve on players clearly not good enough, and we don't do it in a timely fashion. There's no sporting basis to these decisions and it's all money-driven and short-sighted opportunism. Each TW you can compile a better window than ours with players that have actually moved that window...for less money. It's not just a money thing. But it is a "sporting success is secondary to my balance sheet and I will give you evidence of that every chance I get" thing.

Ok & what do you think of how people behaved in the post I posted? No comment?
Also They seemed to be claiming dyabla as a coup not dodging a pot hole. So that’s the levy lovers celebrating dyabla “signing”. So you need to be telling them it’s a pothole missed. They were the ones championing him when they thought levy had signed him.
My point was just that its half of one dozen and 6 of another. The LevyOut brigade make fools of themselves in any given window frothing over not signing some player who completely bombs, as well.

At the end of the day, we're all posting here rather than working for a top football club because we collectively know the square root of fuck all.

Just so everyone knows, today I worked out how to add gifs to messages. I’m 42 and never known how to do it.

Ive spent about an hour giggling to myself at all the different ones on offer. So, from now one, there’s a good chance I’ll include one in *every* post.
