Oh yeh, skill set wise, different players. Dembele was just another level to just about everyone.

But in terms of being able to transition, and hold men off the ball, that's the similarity. As in he may have had a similar impact on our speed of transition if put into the side.

Moot now it would appear.
I'd love to agree with you, but I can't. Agree entirely about Dembele, but not that Traore is similar to him. The one thing they have in common is press-resistance, but that's it. Dembele was a very intelligent player, he directed the shape and pace of the game. For all his physical assets, Traore most certainly doesn't have a footballing brain like that. Not just the split second decisions, but the longer term entire match approach. Don't get me wrong, I'd still like Traore as an option very different to what we (or possibly anyone in the world!) have at present, but I don't think he is remotely comparable to Dembele.

I suppose the cold analysis is, we're probably a 5 or 6 club right now, and with Traore and a backup striker or midfield replacement... we'd probably still only be 5th.

But a backup striker could have propelled us in some of the cup competitions at least. That's where I think we truly missed out.

Back up senior striker and a international class CB along with a ditto CM (#6) is what keeps us from being much of a safe top 4 contender.

It's a guess, but the owners mayhaps just see Nuno as a stop gap and are resigned to losing Kane next summer anyway. So why rebuild now?

Which would be cool. If they lowered ticket prices as according to the ambition level.

But there you go. ENIC.

Here's my thoughts.

BOTH LEVY AND PARATICI ARE TO BLAME

- Woolwich have spent about £150m. Tottenham have spent a 1/5 of that amount. Both clubs are run on a similar model. There is no reason why Woolwich would have so much more funds other than their owners decided to finally invest. Spurs are in the same position as Woolwich needing some serious investment . Both clubs want to get back into the champions league. Woolwich have gone about it the right way trying to actually get there. Whereas Tottenham as per usual have decided that they know better than everyone else and they think they can get back into the UCL with a mediocre squad. This is on LEVY

However, Levy would've said Paratici a budget. We know 'the don' tried to buy Martinez at £65m. We know there was some money there. Everyone has been saying 'the don' has about 10 options at a time for one position . YET we were left on this deadline day with basically Traore or nothing. If 'the don' is so good where is plan a /b/ c . And don't tell me there won't players out there. Leicester got Daka for £20m. There were other ST's out there. Everyone knows this was a buyer's market. Other leagues could've been easily exploited for an attacker. It should've never been Traore or nothing. There were cheap options out there which would improve the squad as a whole. This is on PARATICI

Both are to blame. And both have dissapointed me today.

Sadly we were 1 or 2 players off a good window. Had we got in someone to repalce Bale/Vinicius and that creative midfielder (regardless of the outgoings) we would've accepted that window and given it a 8 or 9/10 perhaps.

As it stands its barely a 5/10. Yet again a window that had we made the right decisions on deadline day it could've been so promising but unfortunately Nuno's not been backed properly. How many more times are we gonna do this.

I goes deeper than that, the whole thing is a ruse

Levy brought Paratici in to spend the Kane money. End of conversion.

Groundhog day.

I've got no idea what Paratici is playing at leaving us without a backup striker, even some two-bit loanee like Vinicius.

It would have cost next to nothing, that's MORE on him than it is on Levy, though the organizational philosophy that mugs off the cups is on Levy so I suppose it's both of them on some level.

An utterly shocking failure. They shouldn't be allowed to collect money for tickets for the cup games, they have spat in the face of every fan that attends.

Last season I knew missing Skriniar would've costed us.
If we had Skriniar. Made that extra leap and made a good window into a great window we would've got top 4. No way would we have dropped what was it 23pts from winning positions if we had him at the back.

I can already tell you now what our problems will be.

1) We didn't sign another CB . Not as big an issue as Romero came in and improved the backline. BUT he will miss games due to international quarantine and while Dier/Sanchez have been good. You cannot trust them throughout the rest of the season

2) We didn't sign a creative midfielder. Perhaps if Ndombele/Lo Celso play and play well then this could be sort of covered but expect a lot of games where we struggle to break down the team. Think Watford at the weekend. UNLESS we set the team up a bit like Liverpool where creativity comes from CM and the FB's (DIFFICULT)

3) THE BIGGEST ISSUE. Lack of depth in attack. If Kane is injured. Son has to play there. Son can't hold up the ball so we will naturally play worse and won't be able to play with a targetman. If one of the wingers gets injured who comes in? Jack Clarke? . The bench will have such little attacking players and no game-changers. This is seriously a big problem. We've won 1-0 3 times this season. We've struggled to score and with the lack of investment in the attack I don't expect this to change.
