Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

That's what people say, but I look at all the things Harry Kane can't give you, and then I think any guy who can run (and perhaps jump, too) would be a viable alternative, and allow England to play with more intensity (with and against the ball).

Possibly. If Vardy wasn't old/retired he'd be a solid option. Calvert Lewin would be a real throwback option, very physical and superb aerially. I guess you could play Rashford through the middle too, or at least give him a go.

I still do think Kane is great if you play to his strengths though. In and around the box he's among the best in the world at striking a ball and he's pretty two footed. England have the wide attacking options and number ten's to allow Kane to focus on being in the box.

But it's all irrelevant when he still decides to do his centre mid impersonation whoever he plays for.

I don't see any bromance/chemistry between Son and Kane as last season. They don't seem that happy.
Thought the same earlier, wonder if Sonny feels a bit let down, that Harry thinks he’s too good for the team? Sonny obviously doesn’t think he’s bigger than Tottenham and duly signed a new contract.I’m sure Kanes shenanigans over the summer, can’t have done anything for team spirit. Definitely seemed to be more unity before he came back.

I think if Kane wanted to leave to make more money, his teammates would be more accepting of his behavior. But when he frames it as him wanting to win and the players on the squad arent good enough to win with... I dont know how any teammate doesnt take that personally. His teammates arent good enough for him and he doesnt want to play with them. And you bring him back and put an armband on him.

I'm from the US and I dont understand this "ambition" angle for players.

In the US, if you leave and sign on to a loaded team, you get criticized and called a "cupcake." LeBron had to return to Cleveland and win a trophy there to establish his legacy. He also signed one and one contracts in Cleveland to ensure management would spend money and reload with talent. Dirk Nowitzki is revered for his one championship in the one team he played with. Watch Giannis's press conference after he won the title. I dont get the praise for players wanting to join superteams and any criticism given to players wanting to build and grind with the team that gave them their start (he lacks ambition 🙄).

It's pretty clear Son and most of the team want Kane gone

Also to continue on my Sunday rant, this situation with Kane and Spurs fans is like dealing with a cheating spouse and how people respond to that.

A) Some will never forgive.

B) Some will forgive if they apologize. (Note: Kane has never apologized)

C) Some blame themselves for them cheating/wanting to leave and beg them back.

I am absolutely in group A here.

If Levy had shown a willingness to sell, many others would have likely shown interest.
We could have got at least £100 million off the Chavs anyway. They spent that on Lukaku. Then again, just a kit everyone here was saying anyone but Chelsea and we don’t do business with Chelsea.

Who were all these ‘many others would have likely shown interest’?

Aside from Chelsea, Inter (after selling Lukaku), PSG (fits Poch and the team better than Messi), and United (before getting CR7)

I am surprised a deal was not cut around 125-30m. There is opportunity cost besides fee that was lost in not moving on Kane at the right time. Humans are not metal bars and have a certain freshness, ripeness, and rottenness in office politics. Levy missed an opportunity to avoid this awkward and counterproductive outcome. Hope Kane, Son and the rest of the bunch they can all come together and rebuild the love and trust, but its difficult to see how that can happen right now.

He'll get the stick and people will say he didn't care but in reality he was probably the best of our starters yesterday. The fact he even had to sprint the length of the field to put that tackle in on Saka after giving the ball away, outrunning Ndombele, Dele and Hojbjerg speaks volumes.
