Depends on what argument you were building around that statistic. Say a player takes barely any shots and only takes on ones which are considered easy goals, then he may have a high shooting %, but that doesn't actually necessarily mean he's good at striking a ball.

Hence why Van Persie has a shooting accuracy of 42% in his Premier League career, and I consider him to have possessed some of the best shooting technique the leagues ever seen. He took on hard shots other strikers would turn down.

Narrative #5 of the Kane Cult:

Kane is the most clinical striker in the world. All he needs is one chance.

We should not be looking at metrics like shot conversion rate for Kane b/c the number of shots a player takes relative to the amount of goals they score is irrelevant.

That said, other strikers in the past 30 years that have a lower shot conversion rate than Kane should be seen as lesser players.

The reason why Kane can't score against the big 4 teams is because the Spurs don't have enough of the ball and don't create enough chances.

The fact that Jiminez, Richarlson, Calvert Lewin, and Aubameyang have more goals than Kane against big 4 sides just means that they play on better teams than Kane. Wolves, Everton and Woolwich are all superior than Spurs.

I've literally said on a number of occasions that he needs to do better in the bigger games. I can't spell it out any clearer. But also that his team needs to help him more than they often do.

But only 5 goals against the big 4 opposition since 17/18 season?

I've said many times he's a world class flat track bully. Scores in bunches against inferior teams like Mura, Pacos, Wolves C team and Newcastle. But against the world's best? Naw. He can't do it like Salah, Son, Lewa, Mbappe, Halland. etc.

Haaland. LOL! Did nothing against City last season in both games. But yeah, he's absolutely wonderful when he's scoring against Mainz, a side that would struggle to beat Sunderland.
