Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I still refuse to believe its true but if we are close to Conte we need to get it done and get the signature on the dotted line today.

United and Newcastle will be hearing about this on Sky and I can see both trying to intervene with bigger money than we can offer.

GET IT DONE!

Well when I was younger my idea of good football was Jose Dominguez doing a few stepovers, flicking his hair a lot and banging in the odd worldy from 25 yards, and by odd I mean 2 in his entire stint...

Now I'm more interested in seeing us in control of a game, attacking the opposition with an actual plan and purpose, actually winning due to the players carrying out what they practice in training on a regular basis rather than the odd bit of magic/fluke from Son.

I've seen and heard lot of fans say they just want to see attacking football regardless of results.
With Kane and Son both playing for the badge, if we were to attack a lot, we would win more, I can't really see how we wouldn't, they score a lot when on song.

Interestingly, I don't see a constant onslaught of attacks as "controlling football" as you invariably keep giving the ball back when you have a go. But i find that more entertaining that 47 passes trying to walk it in.

If it was summer Newcastle would be a threat, but not now. Richest club in the world or not, I don't see Conte starting Newcastle's new era in the Championship. They're more than just a couple of signings away from being even mediocre.

2 year contract does not sound promising. There's no way Conte will accept the same lack of control previous managers had over the squad or accept working with the same shit coaching staff the other managers had to?

No disagreement that I can find with this. The short term thing does chap my ass though and that combined with a less than modern setup doesn't really thrill me. but he is competent and he will construct a functioning unit. I have no doubt about his ability...just didn't want it here and it's another sign the DNA statement was nonsense.
Agree.

The DNA stuff I think we need to look to Paratici for this, Levy's doesn't have a clue in this regard.

With Paratici, for me at least it's my big question mark, does he have a style of play that he favours, if so what? Does he care about one? I'm just going to scrutinize the signings based on their profiles and take cues from that.

I don't think those questions can be answered until post-Conte and what happens after that but one would hope that when you sign a manager to a 2 year deal that a longer strategy is being executed behind the scenes???
