See my post directly below this……it does wind me up, because all it tells me is that Levy isn’t releasing enough funds this January.

He's not saying this about many in the squad. Guys like Ndombele and GLC can't be counted on and these will be (imo) the ones moved on and replaced with actual first team quality. Players like Winks are good enough to be squad options, especially with the HG factor.
He's proven to Conte he's worth having around, good for him.
Or maybe Ryan Mason is behind all of this.

Winks did a nice job in his recent starts, creating chances and generally moving the ball well. There are other players in our squad who either do nothing when they are on the pitch or are never even fit to be on the pitch. Moving them on is the priority.
Ndombele and Lo Celso are the ones whose lack of quality, tenacity and fitness are destroying the team, we need to get some of our £100m back and try to find a new player for our midfield. Winks is giving the maximum he can give as a player of average talent. Those two are not giving anything.

Imagine believing that Conte would just echo the chairman's soundbites or stay in line if he was being told he couldn't get reinforcements.
People know who this guy is .. right? If he feels he isn't being backed, he has always been vocal about it, there's no reason to believe he's suddenly saying whatever Levy wants him to.

Nope. If anything he's criticised Ndombele, and has said nothing about GLC. Don't think he's praised Hojbjerg either.
The only other one he's really praised is Skipp. And rightly so.
It’s good for us if winks can be an adequate squad player… we need all the homegrown we can get.
As long as he’s not a fixture in the starting XI (barring a major improvement).
