There's definitely a subtle change in narrative towards the long-term...it needs years to fix this shit.
Subtle and i think deliberate.
Well but the full quote is, "but there is a place to start". And follows up talking about how the level of the squad has dropped in recent years.
The message is that every time the club fails to take a step forward in a transfer window, it's taking a step backward and digging the hole deeper, adding more time and more money to the requirements to compete for major honors.
He's absolutely dead on, and saying what so many of us have been for the better part of four years now.
Yeah it was definitely that and not the FACT that we’re miles away from competing with clubs like Chelsea or Liverpool. Not subbing Tanganga at HT was a huge mistake by Conte which cost us the game.
I mean forget about net spend, it's been obvious for years that we've got a squad that is stale and deficient in key areas and needs turnover almost for its own sake, and we've been committed to finding every way possible not to do it.Yet appearently we are the idiots, and out "net spend" or whatever is juuuuust fine.

That's where this stuff about it being "hard" or "unreasonable" is so enraging.
We papered things over with loans in Summer 2020. We half-finished Summer 2021.
You can't accomplish everything right now, but as Conte said, there has to be a place to start. The bill just gets bigger every time we spurn an opportunity.
Even more staggering is the growing number of ENIC supporting fanatics polluting the pages of this supposed Spurs supporting forum.... that and 3 head coaches in a row, Poch, Mourinho and Conte saying they don't decide on transfers.
It's staggering.
That’s quite a divisive comment. All fans support spurs and we all want to see us win.Even more staggering is the growing number of ENIC supporting fanatics polluting the pages of this supposed Spurs supporting forum.
What the fuck is happening to our football club
In all fairness it feels that we have a good manager getting the best out of a dogshit squad. We must have one of the dumbest and least creative midfielders in the top half of the league. Our midfield is so shockingly bad that we need Kane to track back and create something for our team. And then we have Dier who looks like Scholes compared to ur midfielders.
Our midfield is so fucking bad its unreal.
agree our midfield is awful, but we have spent money on Ndombele & GLC (£100M) but it was wastedIn all fairness it feels that we have a good manager getting the best out of a dogshit squad. he does not need big money, he is able to improve also cheap players, but they have to have particular skills that fit his type of game and soldier mindset (like skipp-dier for example)Maybe the move for Conte was just a sand in our eyes. I mean to calm the fans down, and not an idea for a project with top manager, and actually spend on good players.
I don't think Conte would have come without assurance for big money, but we all know who Levy is, and that won't happen.
Didn’t like the lineup, felt he should’ve been proactive with at least a handsome sub. Skipp I’m got Tanganga at halftime.
Doing a good job but that was too negative. I understand that having been outclassed by Chelsea so recently he wanted to change things up, but inviting pressure onto you for 90 minutes is never the way, particularly when it means using a new formation and system for the first time.
The other thing I’d look at is why on Earth would you not play Skipp, or only midfielder with any really ability to get about and provide some zip, in the side if you’re going for a Terri man midfield. Made no sense.
Lately, if it’s going to be a flat 4, stick Lucas on one of the flanks, as he is probably better off the ball than both the wingers who started and obviously better on it. Or, actually, give A Bryan a go as he’s the one player at the club who probably is made for an old fashioned winger role.
Conte doing some good things but I think he screwed up this one.
Spot on.Skipp was not fit to start, neither were Lucas, Reguilon or Emerson. He was forced to change the lineup because of their injuries. He said that Skipp and Lucas hadn’t trained and thanked the medical team for even getting them onto the bench.
We can criticise him for not changing at HT but the starting lineup was the eleven players who were able to start. That was the first time in like 6 years that he’s changed from the back 3, it was an emergency not his desired lineup.
We spent 100m when other teams spent 110-120m. We are always going for players that are one shelf bellow the rest and gamble on the coming good.agree our midfield is awful, but we have spent money on Ndombele & GLC (£100M) but it was wasted
