As much as I agree with you about having players thaf are prem proven quality (whatever that means exactly) that have versatility to give us greater options from the bench, buying a player that is bang average because of this is absolutely the wrong mentality to have if you want to push for honours on a season by season basis.you're not looking at the bigger picture in the slightest and I hope our scouting system and higher ups don't have the same mentality as you.
Whilst you see it as "50m for someone to sit on the bench" I see it as 50m for a player of proven quality who can operate in numerous positions meaning we wouldn't need to get another attacking winger type player AND a good cover striker which would be more then the 50m combined.
Richarlison can operate on the left and right flank as well as being good up front. "He wouldn't start"? you as well as many as getting over excited about out current run of form which is understandable but let's also not forget how poor we have been in games as well. Having someone that quality of Richarlson who can genuinely compete with Kulusevski, Kane and Son and also get a decent amount of starts as it looks like we will be in Europe next season is a no brainer.
In order to compete for the shiny stuff you've got to be spoilt for options like the chelski, citeh or lpools and be able to bring on reliable game changers that could arguably be a starter, not professional wage thieves and divers.
