Thing is we have some players at the club already like Alfie, Harvey even Rodon but conte is loathe to give anyone else apart from his faves a go. Whose to say Harvey couldn’t have done a worse job than winks when he came in v Brighton. Conte doesn’t sometimes like to give younger players a go.
........And if the gaffa says he wants a few more mature, proven players with high-level experience?
Conte's not gonna stick around to watch a crop of young players blossom in a few years..... That's not the project; nor the target he will be setting himself.
Besides we already have Sess, Skipp, Kulu, Gil, Sarr, White, Devine, Parrot etc. on the books.
We're not going to bring in 5/6 players at 50m a pop, so a couple of shrewd freebies will be a difference maker this summer.
Zero sentimentality involved in any of that.

I have a soft spot for Eriksen but as others have pointed out. He left on a sour note and he didn’t perform for the last two seasons he was here. It became a running joke on here the amount of times his corners failed to beat the first defender.
I wish him well and I’m so glad that he’s able to keep playing football. I think he should continue doing so for Brentford. He certainly wouldn’t be my first choice AM in the summer. If Conte wants to incorporate one into this team then we should provide him with the best available option we can afford. Not 30 year old Eriksen on a free because of the romance of it all.

Saw some tweets in the week — after they lost the Europa League game— that said that Lyon weren’t interested in extending the loan or buying him.
He’ll be our problem (again) come summer.

The only reason he went for 20M in January because he made it clear he wasn't interested in staying. His performances on the pitch reflected that. But you're right that time marches on.

By the summer of 2019 literally everyone at Spurs wanted out, including Poch. The constant near success but ultimate failure broke everyone. We're still suffering from it.
Eriksen was a very good, and sometimes very great, player at Spurs. He moved on - like almost all players eventually do. It's not a slight, there's no reason to harbor ill feelings over it.

I am sceptical there is any truth in the reports we will go for either. I bet the players we eventually get haven't even been mentioned yet, it is only April.
