Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Was speaking to my dad last night about this. Logically conte will have 1 year left on deal and not sure levy will give 200m to conte who has a year left on contract. Conte has thrown his toys out of pram a couple of times this season. Not sure he has staying power. Poch for me is manager for stability. Levy knows he made a mistake not backing poch. Poch and tottenham was a marriage for me. Football was sublime and modern. Interesting summer but it has been a circus since poch left imo.

la parisien are pretty reliable for psg news

really hope its not conte poch swap but levy will be all over it like a rash
It would be the biggest get out of jail card ever for Levy.

Ditches the really expensive “must back” option for the guy who he knows has turned water into wine before with cheap second option punts, all while keeping the fans on side because Poch is such a massive fan favourite.

It would be sickening.

It’s funny, I recall when we sacked Mourinho and we apparently “rejected” ten Hag because Levy had some problems with him in the interview.
Fast forward to now and the leaks of ten Hags United interview were that he essentially tore the club apart from top to bottom, gave the owners and brass a dressing down and outlined exactly what needed to be done to fix it.
Now, that’s the kind of blaming and finger pointing that could well upset our esteemed leaders, whilst it would obviously appeal to a club that are desperate to reach the top level again and are willing to do anything to get there.

It’s only a theory I’ve concocted, but I wouldn’t be in one bit surprised if it’s accurate to some degree.

In reference to patterns of play that is also what Pep and Klopp do, they have generally only plan A but it’s done to perfection with the players that can do it.

Klopp’s first season was all over the shop with players who couldn’t enact his system/patterns and it took time to perfect and a lot of new players. Conte is in a similar mould, he has his patterns and needs his players.

This is the difference between a pragmatic manager (Redknapp) and a philosophy manager like Conte or Pep. Considering the clubs lack of long term scouting and good investment a pragmatic manager probably makes more sense for us but in recent years managers with one plan be it Klopp, Pep, Potter, Conte have done better.
Surely you that wrong. Redknapp is no way a pragmatic manager and conte is no way the sane as pep or klopp. The only pragmatic is conte just like Dino. Under harry wevwould go out to attack and win the game. Conte and Dino are the complete opposite.

It allowed us to remove Sessegnon (Reguilon was not fully fit) and helped us defend set pieces which were causing us massive trouble throughout the game. We probably had our best spell of the match in the period after Davinson came on and Davies went to LWB. A good 15 minutes where we were totally in control. I get that sub.

What isn't comprehensible is why it took 86 minutes for Emerson to leave the pitch and for another attacker to come on. I would rather lose the game trying to throw the kitchen sink at them than settle for a useless point, but that seems to reflect what Conte really thinks of this team. He thinks that if we sacrifice any real solidity we will lose, which may well be true.

At the end of the day we are paying the price for having 3 duff wing backs and midfielders who cannot really score a goal or create a chance. I believe during commentary they said Bentancur hasn't scored a club goal for 2 years. Even Hojbjerg chips in with a couple each season. The team is too reliant on the 3 starters up front.
Sacrifice any real quality? What like royal, ffs get real. The guy just doesn’t have the balls to go for it. It’s always like for like generally.

Let's see how the ten hag project unfolds with ManU. I don't see how he is better than Rangnick as a tactician and expect him to face similar challenges. PL is a long way away from the Dutch league in terms of quality.

The only way ManU can ensure ten hag settles in fast is by giving him a blank cheque to sign all the Ajax players he wants to bring with him so that he has a familiar foundation to work on

The sublime football under Poch was carried out by a young and hungry team.

It failed at the end of his tenure as the old guard were jaded. Kane and Son can't play that way anymore.

Has he adapted his style or is it still get young players who run a lot?

PSG hasn't proven much of anything and has been a bit of a waste of time for him. Conspiring to lose a Ligue 1 title at PSG doesn't do much for your legacy.

What does a rebuild under Poch look like? He also as blood on his hands for the Ndombele/Lo Celso window.

I think I know what’s happening here.

Conte goes, Poch returns, we get the band back together with Eriksen and Alli coming back.

N’BigBelly and Lo SoSo comes back and as Poch asked for them, he’ll bring out the best in them! So that’s our summer signings done.

In a recent interview, Daws said he should’ve had one more season with us so perhaps he could come back for one final hurrah?

And then when we inevitably exit all other competition and on one game a week, maybe we could see if King fancies coming back too?

Actually, better not give Levy any ideas…

Biggest problem to me right now is it doesn't look like the tactics are producing chances. We don't look like we know how to play the 3-4-3 any better this month than we did a few months ago. Maybe its the players, maybe it's Conte, but if the players aren't producing play than produces chances, then the coach has got to do something to fix it. I had always believed up to this point that Conte was a good tactical coach in terms of passing combinations within the 3-4-3 but I'm now starting to question that belief. I don't care how bad we are we should absolutely always be able to create some chances against lower table clubs like Brighton and Brentford. To not figure out how to do that is really disturbing to me.

Levy appears to not have backed Conte quite enough in the Winter, and completely fucked up the summer by going cheap and appointing Nuno. Backing Kane with ambitious spending and managerial appointments is starting to look like Levy maintaining appearances rather than a genuine commitment. If we end up having to go into a rebuild anyways, despite all this, it's gonna look awfully incompetent at the board and ownership level, especially given the lost transfer fee for Kane and wasted development time for team and players. Not that they really give much of a shit, or that there's anything we can really do about it, unfortunately...

There are a few ifs here. If Conte leaves for PSG, I'm sure Levy will want to have Poch back. But if Conte leaves, will also Paratici go to PSG. If that happens will Poch also be head of recruiting?

If we can keep Paratici and if Conte leaves. I'm fairly ok with Poch. But without Paratici I'm worried, because Poch eye for talent is pretty bad, and his not lending out youngsters is a totally worthless tactics.

I don't know what to make of the rumours.

Wasn't that long ago Conte got the media into a frenzy about "not being good enough " or words to that effect, only to followed up by a totally different attitude.

As I said during the Kane fiasco, the Club is above any one individual, but right now as we are challenging for CL positions, this is a concern.

Let's assume for a minute Conte leaves. What happens to Kulu ? Rodrigo ? Kane ?

Add to that players out eg, Tanguy, Gio etc ?

The Club needs some stability after the Jose / Nuno fiasco. Players current and possible signings need some clarity. If this was in fact leaked to by Conte's team, then its pathetic.

Lets see what pans out, but the timing is fucked.
