Maybe I'd be willing to stretch to that for Phillips, but definitely not for JWP.

When you see that it's possible to get the likes of Bentancur for 19m from abroad I have no doubt Paratici/Conte have a few more of these types up their sleeves.

Is Spence even that bad for the money being quoted? There really aren’t that many world class RWBs that would be willing to join us and it means we can spend big on quality (Bastoni) and depth (which is important with the subs rule change)

It's not so much about the pricetag..... Question is can he walk in and be a significant upgrade from day 1........? That's a huge ask of someone with no top-flight experience.

He isnt bad but i'm not sure he's an upgrade on Doherty or indeed much of one on Emerson. However there is room for improvement and he does have some decent attributes but at this moment i wouldnt say more than promising backup. RWB should be an area we're looking for a definate first teamer day one of the season.
