Agree that RWB is a bigger priority but the bottom line is that if we are actually serious about a PL/CL challenge, we need two new starting wingbacks on each side.LWB isn't anywhere near as bad as RWB. Sess was just beginning to look confident in that role and I think Reggie is capable of pushing him. Neither are the finished article but both bring something to the role. And both fighting for the same position will force them to improve their form.
We don't need to be spending money on a position that those two can cover.
Despite all this talk of 8 signings, we know that's not how we work. I'd be happy with 4 good players that can come straight into the team. A RWB, LCB, CM and an attacker that can play across the front line. Add in a useful free like Eriksen and we've massively improved the team/squad without going crazy.
This guy is not the one to take over from Hugo.
I'm hoping this is Paratici looking at several players at once for the same position.
I loved Brad but I don't like Forster. No one is expecting him to take over Hugo.
Bringing in Hugo's long term replacement now would take a huge chunk out of our transfer kitty and it's not a priority position.
This is the latest stop gap in the Vorm, Hart, Gollini lineage and he's a step up on all of them. It's good business that sets us up for a couple of years.
Doubt it.I loved Brad but I don't like Forster.
I am hoping we get Johnstone and IMO we will.
I hate to say it, but it's very unrealistic. No way will we sell a dozen players in one window... it just never happens, even if we want it to. I am expecting us to sell 6-7 players max this summer, and bring in a similar number of players.Outgoings:
- Gollini (loan)
- Emerson (not a RWB)
- Reguilon (lost the battle with Sess, most likely RM will trigger the buyback, if not it'll be easy to find La Liga bidders for him)
- Rodon (loan him to a mid-table EPL side, the kid has talent)
- Sanchez (not consistent enough, he as well would prefer regular football instead of sitting in the bench)
- Winks (not good enough)
- Sarr (loan him to an EPL/Championship side, Norwich would be excellent)
- Lo Celso (Villarreal will get him, surely)
- Ndombele (Paratici will offload him, surely)
- Bergwijn (too good to be an impact sub, not good enough to contest the starting spot of Son/Kulusevski).
- Lucas (deserves a heroes farewell, but the same argument as Bergwijn).
- Gil (loan him to an EPL side, same as Rodon).
Incomings:
- Johnstone. Good backup, English, free. Could make some competition for Hugo.
- RWB. Spence looks done. He also looks like he has incredible potential, from what I've seen towards the end of the season for Nottingham he looks made for a Conte system.
- LWB. Someone like Kostic or Perisic would be great, Cucurrella would be incredible. A very outside chance of Cornet now that Burnley are down?
- CB. Bastoni or Laporte are the dreams, Pau Torres looks way more gettable because of Lo Celso. Will most likely need another CB since we're letting Dav go and need competition for Dier. Skriniar or Bremer would be great options.
- CM. Bissouma seems the perfect fit, Kalvin Philipps, McGinn or Jacob Ramsey are also great options, otherwise any chance we snatch De Jong from United?
- CAM. Eriksen would give us that creative spark that we've been missing for so long, and would also allow us to play a 3-4-1-2 instead of a 3-4-3.
- Striker/Winger. As mentioned previously, Gabriel Jesus is a great shout, however I'd like if we went for Sterling. To me he does everything Jesus does, but better, and he has a great understanding with Kane.
Considering CL football and the outgoings, it doesn't look that unrealistic no?
He was struggling under Conte in the beginning, but managed to find his place later on. However, that was in a three-man midfield, not the two-CM-tactic he uses now.Eriksen seems like a total no-brainer to me. Still performing at a high level in this league, knows Conte and his methods, knows the club and would likely accept a rotation role. On a free transfer, this is the perfect squad player.
But is he only using the 2 because of our lack of CM options and wingback deficiencies? He was struggling under Conte in the beginning, but managed to find his place later on. However, that was in a three-man midfield, not the two-CM-tactic he uses now.
As a Dane, I would love to see Eriksen back at Spurs, but objectively I'm not sure he's a good fit.
Exactly, with a full pre-season available to him, Conte needs to make the 3-5-2 an option. It would have really helped against Brighton and Brentford. The 3-4-3 has worked fine, but making that little formation switch when teams try to overrun us in midfield should be an arrow in the quiver. To do that you need a more creative CM than we have on the roster. Maybe that guy's Eriksen, maybe it isn't, but considering health, age, and desire for UCL Eriksen might be willing to start 12-15 games and come off the bench for another 20 over the course of a 4-comp season. But is he only using the 2 because of our lack of CM options and wingback deficiencies?
I think if he had two better wingbacks and a creative CM we'd definitely see games where we go Kane and Son up top with Skipp at the base and Hojbjerg/Bentancur and Eriksen ahead.

Good point! However, wasn't one of our problems this season also with teams standing way back on their own half? I think it's also to do with our fullback's lacks quality. Bruno Lage came out after the game and said Spurs leave the midfield weak so we'll attack that, and accept the risk of their WBs being unmarked.Good point! For matches like those, we need something else. I would love if Conte would take teams like that on as Poch did; high press until they break.

I say yes if Conte wants him. He has so much ability and experience and showed last season that he is neither past it not injured all the time. Same stuff people said before we signed him on loan. He was decent. I’m sure he would be again. He fell out with Real, the club and fans. He hasn’t fallen out with us. Got on well with us.And he got on with the squad last season no problem. Moureen just seemed to not want him or to play him
And he still scored 16 goals.
You're probably right! Good points- He could play in a 3 man CM >>> It makes absolute sense to give Conte the option to be versatile and switch between systems that are already in his weaponry >>> 352
- He could play standard #10 behind Son & Kane >>> 3412-a
- He could rotate with Kulu at RWF >>> 343
- He could even be back up for Kane in his false-10 role if Son & Kulu are deployed to run ahead of him a la City away >>> 3412-b
With a 5 sub game in the league and cups from here on.... A high quality, free player that knows the club and manager really is too much of a tap-in to turn down.
Get it done, Don Fab.
Agreed on all points. Should be the next one that gets done after Forster. No club to negotiate with and no extra bullshit competing with the likes of City or Barca.- He could play in a 3 man CM >>> It makes absolute sense to give Conte the option to be versatile and switch between systems that are already in his weaponry >>> 352

Just need to stipulate in his contract that he isn’t allowed to take corners. I can’t face watching him hit the first man over and over again.Eriksen seems like a total no-brainer to me.
