Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Well Sky think Bissouma's done...

Yves Bissouma: Tottenham agree deal with Brighton for midfielder who will undergo Spurs medical on Thursday

The piece goes on to talk about wider Tottenham transfer business. In the section "Which positions are Tottenham targeting?", Sky Sports News' Paul Gilmour writes...

Spurs recently rejected the chance to sign one talented Premier League player because their research highlighted concerns he could be a disruptive influence.

Any theories who this might be? My money's on Richarlison, but I accept that's purely because I don't like his face.

It was Pogba according to that Paul o keefe guy on twatter

With Son and Kane approaching 30, we need players in their mid 20s to take over when Son and Kane start to decline. Like Liverpool with Nunez and Diaz. Richarlison and Raphinha fit the profile. We could get both but maybe getting them both this summer is too much to ask.

As Inter seem to have almost signed Dybala (free transfer, big salary) ..... so what happens to Martinez with 2 strikers arriving and Inter needing to sell ......?
I'm really worried he'd end up at the goons. They are desperate for a striker or two and the fanbase has really turned on the management since Bissouma so they'll need to make a statement to appease them. I reckon they'll go big, £70m+

I'm thinking that Levy and Everton may be playing a bit of 3d chess in the transfer market in order to avoid FFP rules.

Dele --> Everton for no fee
Winks --> Everton for no fee
Richarlison --> Spurs for 25m

Everton gain 2 players; without negatively impacting transfer spend.
Spurs gain Richarlison and only write off a small capex fee.
That's detrimental for Everton under FFP. Richarlison 60m all recorded as profit while cost of incomings is spread across contract

Musah was brilliant tonight. McKennie also looked really good in his 30 minutes.
surely if we get bissouma, we don't need McKennie anymore.

On the richarlison debate, I'm sure we can get Everton down to a more sensible price. He's not setting the world alight but there is real value in someone who is totally proven and consistent in the PL. Look how many strikers West Ham went through that turned out to be flops in the PL (hehehehe)

Are you sure about that? I really don't think that you can just make things up to suit your needs like that (unless you're Man City...)

Like Everton can't just go to Mr FFP "look, look £60m profit for Richarlison, aren't we great, our books are balanced AF!"

Mr FFP - but what about the £75m you've spent on Winks???

Fat Frank - Oh don't worry about that, that's a buy now pay later over the next 30 years, it's fine...

I'm pretty sure you could only record £60m for Richarlison as profit if a) That is a flat fee, not made up of incentives and b) Spurs actually paid it as a lump sum, not instalments. I'm certainly no expert but there's creative book keeping, and then there's fraud.

if he is happy to be a rotation option

i cant complain

if we sign some good depth options then perhaps we can sell him but if only sao paulo are his only want then we have to wait till hes out of contract
He's long outstayed his welcome as a player. He's had his moments, and we'll remember him fondly, but he's fucking dogshit, and we're better off with putting 10m to 15m we'd get for him towards a proper player.

He can't really feel aggreived if Paratici/Conte politely tell him his time's up.

The cost of Winks will be amortised across his contract, its the standard and I am sure.

The fee from spurs will be recorded in full where the fee is certain regardless of installments, add ons will be recorded when met. Profit will be the fee spurs paid minus any amortised cost still outstanding (ex 50m over 5 year contract, if he has 2 years left they have to take off 10m)

What I'm asking though is, are you sure or just theorising? I can follow the logic of what you're saying, but surely in terms of FFP at some point you have a black and white money out of the club, money into the club sum that has to be within a certain tolerance? Surely FFP is based on the actual financial books of the club, what money has come in, and what money has gone out over a 12 months period, now what Transfer Fee was disclosed to the media?

Even with the scenario that you outline, in that case then there will be tons of instalments from inward transfers of previous years to take into account? I know that doesn't affect the specific Richarlison scenario that started this tangent off, but on a wider scale, just thinking that payments for transfers in are spread over a number of years doesn't actually help much when you have payments for the likes of Iwobi, Tosun, Doucoure, Allan and whatever other dross they signed over the last 3 years still going out.
