Well you mentioned KaneI just don't think it's a massive diff........ It's a 1 year difference.... We'd go through the same cycle regardless.... It's not like we're talking 3 vs 6 year and some kind of total lockdown deal like we got Kane to sign.
Perhaps if we'd just blown mega-bucks on a fee there might be more cash value to protect, but not so.
It's not just the money. CL and Conte also make a huge difference, as well as the fact we are now seen asa team on the rise. As good a team as we had between 2016-18 I don't think we were considered that. Now we genuinely are.Bissouma is a great signing, really happy.
What I do find funny though is that does anyone remember Levy's line of "it's not as easy as fans think to sign players", clearly it is when you pay the money!
Just kidding, great day all round. Onto the next one.
And still neither of them are good at scoring goals, and that was proven. Hojberg miss a 500% chance against Liverpool, that could have cost us big. We got to thanks Newcastle big time for that win against Woolwich, which open the door for that 4th position.
As far as the selling from Liverpool, my point was completely different. And they actually get way, way better without this 2.
As far as Chelsea are concerned, I think we're already at that point. I was referring more to Liverpool and City.Unless the new owners start pumping in money, there's basically no gap. Financially we're on basically even footing, facilities are far superior, manager is better, and after this summer squads should comparable or better for us.
If we nab a couple of major trophies, we should be able to compete with them for any signing.
If we get four years out of him for 25M and he does well and goes for free, happy days. These are the kind of compromises dickhead Daniel wouldn’t ordinarily make whereas Paratici is happy to trade on the basis we get good players first and foremost as opposed to what he considers a good dealFrom his perspective it just means there's scope for one last big contract in his career..... If we tie him up til he's 30 that's potentially gone.
Yes, but is he willing to start in the bench? If there's anyone you're going to break the bank for, it's Lautaro Martinez. Was a top 10 attacking player in the world by all metrics last season and is still only 24. In terms of goalscorers 25 and under, only Mbappe and Haaland are ahead of him. Last season stats:
Then he's also just an ideal fit. He's played under our manager before. He's played in strike partnerships with great goalscorers like Lukaku and Dzeko as he would be doing with Kane and Son here. He's just now entering his prime being only 24.
- 0.83 goals per 90 minutes, 8th overall in Europe's top five leagues behind only Lewandowski, Haaland, Schick, Benzema, Immobile, Ben Yedder, Dembele. Immediately ahead of Mbappe, Vlahovic and Salah.
- 0.77 xG per 90s minutes. 4th in Europe behind only Lewandowski, Haaland, and Benzema.
- 0.91 xG+xA per 90 minutes. 8th in Europe behind only Lewa, Benzema, Haaland, Mbappe, Salah, Zapata, and Neymar.
As noted above, the only two strikers in the 25 or under bracket at his level are Mbappe and Haaland. This is a guy that you put all the chips in the middle for if you have any type of a chance to make it happen. He's worth 100m and if we truly have a chance to get him we should be willing to pay that much. This level of player is essentially never available to us.
Don't think it will happen though, Inter are just too difficult to deal with. Been fooled one too many times.
Zzzzzz
Without a doubt we should be winning a trophy next year. Not saying we’ll win but I think we should at least to be in the dogfight for the title
Perisic, Bremer, Richarlison, Bissouma, Spence indicates we are going for players that obviously are very skilful but are big, powerful and very quick.
To me this indicates we want to bully teams next season. Conte is going for players that nearly always win their one on one battles.
This is probably why we are not in battle for players Woolwich want like Jesus, Tielemans, Viera etc.
Not saying we’ll win but I think we should at least to be in the dogfight for the title
Add that spilled coffee thing on his desk (wtf?) and I'm calling my shrink. Those pictures being unevenly spaced and all slightly askkew is seriously fucking with me.
Well you mentioned Kane
Like I say …. Imagine if he excels and is courted . You make the point yourself
We should look the whole picture, shouldn't we ?
Conte did great since he come here, but we got 5 draws and 10 loses in 36 games, which is not small.
We struggle heavy against opposition that are tight in the back, and play comfortably well.
And yes we beat City, and drew 2x time with Liverpool, but we lost 3 time to Chelsea.
It's football, and my experience shows me that everything can happen.
But we are still far, far away from City and Liverpool. Even Chelsea are in front of us, and United was, probably no longer. But they have way more power than we do in the market. And not just in terms of money.
And i know that Conte didn't have pre-season, that he come in the middle of the season, and all of that, but that doesn't mean we automatically will become title contender. And when i talk about title contender i mean a real one, not just on paper, like every year people make 7-8 teams as title contender, when the reality is they are 2, and the battle is for the rest of the spot.
We were in solid top 4, and look what happen at one point, out of it, Pochettino sacked and we suffer.
Mourinho won the title with Chelsea on his comeback, and then next season he was 10th or so, and get sacked in the middle of it.
So many things could go wrong, otherwise we won't be talking about football.
Again my hope is to do better than this season in terms of play, and hopefully make steps towards the goal we all want.
But getting to 90+ points is a very hard task, and i have hard time seeing our team reaching it.
But we can always hope for Liverpool and City to slide a bit.
could be a very good wingback. Different from Sess in that he could hang back a bit and spam crosses.![]()

According to 90min, sharing news in the last 24 hours, there has been some movement at Tottenham Hotspur involving Burnley forward Dwight McNeil.
Spurs head coach Antonio Conte is not stopping after locking up a deal for Premier League star Yves Bissouma, according to reports.
Fabrizio Romano backs that the Lilywhites have their eyes on even more signings before the start of 2022/2023 as links continue to emerge for players across Europe.
The likes of Christian Eriksen and Djed Spence have reportedly been targeted by the north Londoners, but according to 90min, it appears there is another new target on Fabio Paratici’s mind.
Tottenham and their sporting director have allegedly entered the mix for McNeil after Burnley’s relegation to the Championship.
It is believed they have already made contact and ‘asked’ the Lancashire side about a potential deal, but their star man is in-demand, with Newcastle, Everton, Brentford, West Ham and Fulham also lurking.
THE VERDICT: MOVE FURTHER?
Called a ‘sensational player‘ by journalist Andy Jones of The Athletic, it’s safe to say McNeil has lived up to this tag over 2021/2022.
According to WhoScored, the 22-year-old was a Turf Moor untouchable last season with only goalkeeper Nick Pope playing more league minutes than Burnley’s starlet.
He also averaged more key passes and successful take-ons per 90 than any regular in the side and finished last season as Burnley’s second-best performer by average match rating (WhoScored).
The fact McNeil is homegrown may be another incentive to move given Tottenham’s troubling quota issues, and depending on his valuation, this move could be a shrewd one.
