hes not as poor technically as some make out, he might not look very silky but he gets the job done and has done some nice things that require good technical ability. hes done some lovely through balls (one to kane for the left foot volley not so long ago?) hes had a shot from outside the box where hes calmly passed it into the bottom corner...these require good technique. just cos you dont move like neymar doesnt mean you dont have good technique or a feel for the ball.

Depends on what you define as technical ability, he's a fairly decent tackler, good positioning for interceptions, and a good final pass with through balls and some crosses.

On the other hand, he's very easy to press, can't turn with the ball so forced to pass it back too much, struggles to control long passes to him, can't spray the ball about like Kane, Dier, and Romero. The biggest issue by far is the fact that gets into good positions in the box on a weekly basis and then cocks up the final pass/shot. Based on the chances he's had, I'd expect someone like Son to have 6/7 goals.

Having said that, their issues go beyond the Football as well. Their stadium is ageing badly and, with the way the World is today, would likely cost them far more than ours did. They're already over £800M in debt, with owners who are milking them rather than reinvesting like ENIC have done with us. They are also in danger of losing their lucrative sponsorship deals as CL slips over the horizon.

They were quite visionary when the Prem started, combined with the good fortune of their stadium build and the class of 92 happening at just the right time, but they've squandered the lot.

As I see it, right now their owners are using them as a cash cow. When they slip enough that the revenues don't provide the dividends they're taking out of the club, they'll likely sell to the highest bidder. There's plenty out there willing to shell out for a club with their status, but their stock and value will continue to dwindle until that happens IMO.

We're already seeing this with Woolwich, I can see Utd languishing as mid table nonentities for a good while yet.

It really seems like Woolwich love to leak that they are competing with us for transfers. We’ve been looking at LCBs all summer and haven’t had a link to Martinez once until Woolwich were interested. I don’t buy we’re in for him at all, just Woolwich trying to pretend they’re beating us to transfers.

Same shit happened with that Portuguese kid they just signed. I’d genuinely never heard of him or see us linked once and then there were numerous stories about how they beat us out for him. Nonsense.

Yeah a few of us have brought him up as one to look out for but never seen these twitter aggregators linking us to him till yesterday.

Without PEH this past season, we legit finish 7th or 8th in the league. I don't think people realize how important he's been. He filled in so many gaps and covered several roles. Not to mention his presence/leadership etc.

Any thought of selling him would be a tragic mistake.

Napoli paid an obscene amount of money for him, so I think we'd get ripped off if we even tried.

I think there are better value for money attackers, I'd personally prefer Raphinha (I know not same position, but realistically we can' buy both Raphinha and Oishmein)

i dont disagree at all but maybe tthe reason why we are being ambitious with these links is maybe because we are looking at successors

kane is yet to sign a new deal too
