He started more games than either of those last season. Scored more goals too. That's despite a 100 million signing who is a natural in Sterling's position. Was the same last season too, and for 2-3 seasons Sterling was their main man behind KDB.
Mahrez and Jesus were trusted more in the big games.
4 biggest games of the season were 2 PL vs Liverpool, and 2 CL vs Madrid. Jesus started all 4, Mahrez started 2, Sterling started 1.

Jesus started more in the CL because he can play striker, not because Pep thinks he's a better footballer. City didn't have a striker last season so he got games. He had a nice little run of form which coincided with the CL knockouts as well.

And regardless, big games aren't everything. The smaller teams are most of your fixture list and Sterling plays for City most weeks.

Not for me. Take sterling out of that City team and he doesn't score at the same rate. His overall bumbling is in stark contrast to the control that Deki offers. Theres a reason our goalscoring went through the stratosphere when he joined.
Why doesn't any other of Citys wide men score as many as Sterling then??

Sterlings movement off the ball is up there with anyone in world football, Kane dropping and having runners from both sides in Sterling and Son, takes us up another level.

Kulu has had one breakout season at Parma and half an amazing season with us. I have no idea if I'd take him over Sterling because it's far too small a sample size to say whether that's his level or not. Sterling has played in the PL for years to a very high level and had seasons Kulu could only dream of.

Over the last 6 months was Kulusevski better? Yes. Does that automatically make him the better player? Fuck no.

Jesus started RW vs Liverpool at Anfield and scored. And some key matches with Jesus at CF, Pep chose Mahrez over Sterling at RW.

Bear in mind that Sterling wants to leave City because of playing time, despite the fact Jesus is leaving and Mahrez is wrong side of 30. I feel it's because he wants to start the important matches and feel valued.

His off the ball movement in the box is his best quality no doubt, as good as any in the world. I just think Kulusevski fits our system better, with two devastating goalscorers already on the pitch

Mahrez is a better & more natural RW than Sterling, and also a fantastic player, probably the second best right winger in the whole of the Premier League. But Jesus isn't near Sterling's level, he had a really good run of form last season but that was all.

I think he probably wants a new challenge, sometimes players stagnate. Having a 'main man' role is next to impossible at City as all the attackers are rotated regularly, it's only KDB who is essentially always in the XI.

this is the reason I'd want Sterling. I think he's a fucking annoying prick and a selfish footballer, but his ability to dribble past people in tight spaces and get off a decent shot is top tier, it's perfect against defensive teams.

He's also much better than Son when it comes to retaining possesssion under pressure, so he's well suited to dropping deep to pick up the ball and carrying it forward. When Son does this he tends to lose the ball a lot.

He's also very fit, and energetic, and like Lucas give the team a burst of energy when nothing seems to be clicking.

For big games there's no question that I'd take Son and Kulu over him.

This is all hypothetical anyway, Sterling won't be coming to Spurs...mainly to stop a snowballing gooner mental health crisis...
It’s funny knowing that when he ends up at Woolwich some of those trying to pretend he’s some unreal player now that he’s available will be right back in here telling you he’s shit and they’ll suddenly remember his inconsistent (putting it v lightly) finishing ability and love of dribbling head down right into 3/4 defenders.

Some people seem to disagree with htis.

What part? The factual bits where he scored more goals & played more games, or the other factual bit where he was playing 30 odd games for City and had three PL seasons in a row with:

17/18: 18 goals 11 assists, 4 goals 1 assist in the CL
18/19: 17 goals 10 assists, 5 goals 2 assists in the CL
19/20: 20 goals 1 assist, 6 goals 3 assists in the CL

So yes, whether people rate him or not, for 3 seasons he was their key player alongside KDB.

No new signings in the past 54 hours...

Paratici out!
I swear football transfer rumours/reporting only really get going during the week - I'm actually a little excited to see if anything suddenly breaks tomorrow given that we've gotten Bissouma over the line now.

Anyone know why the Spence deal is still not done? Starting to feel like Levy is being a tight cunt again

To be honest I’m normally one to jump straight on Levy, but I think we are doing it correctly here. From what i have been hearing and reading , Middlesbrough want 25 mil for Spence and we are only willing to pay between 12-17mil. I think Middlesbrough are cheeky bastards if you ask me, considering they wanted this guy out. They got lucky he had a standout season with Forest, but at the end of the day, nobody is paying 25 mil for Spence. Not even Forest, hence why it hasn’t been done. We will get Spence 100%.
