From what I've read recently on Eriksen, I'm pretty positive that there's a chance we will sign him but there's also a possibility that we will not sign him. Almost certainly it's one or the other.

One of the best around. He's transformed that Liverpool midfield from functional to a team much more capable of retaining possession & controlling matches. He may not be the man playing the 'final pass' often but he's the one making them tick in midfield or swinging balls out to Trent/Robertson.

I'd kill for a Thiago in our midfield.

Sounds like Carrick in his pomp to me.

Eriksen certainly. Its that versatility which I think Spurs would want him for

Kulusevski possibly (he's a very good footballer), but I'd hate to divert him from the role he does very well now, in order to try him out as a CM3 ..... and loose half the goals and assists

It's a moot concern cos if we switched to 352 in any games it would be his berth that got moved regardless........

No signings since Friday

Very questionable. Thiago is on a different level to anything we have & Fabinho is one of the top three defensive midfielders in the world. Henderson is very much functional, like Hojbjerg, but the other two are top tier.

Anyway, it's not the Liverpool thread. Bissouma should really help elevate us, I'm hopeful he's the bit of something special we've lacked in midfield beyond just having midfielders who do a job. Another midfielder would be nice but if Conte is happy with our options then move on I guess..
Hmmm… i still think you’re viewing a midfield as composed of individuals whose quality we should compare.

Instead, what I’m saying, is that the players are a tool to achieve certain footballing aims within a broader philosophy. The right players are the right-shaped tools for the job. Sure, underlying qualities might make some players more useful tools but I think we have the right tools in our midfield for the job it needs to perform.

Our players will be as contextually effective as Liverpool’s are.

Eriksen was horrible in Conte's system at Inter and he completely quit on us to force his move out. Thanks for the memories... I'd prefer not to make any new ones with Eriksen
Unpopular opinion but true.

For the excellent player that he was for us for most of his Spurs career and for what he’s been through, I can understand why people want him back, but those people need to take their rose-tinted glasses off and remember how absolutely fucking diabolical Eriksen was for us for the two seasons before he left.

Practically every corner would fail to beat the first defender and he was nowhere near the influential player that he was for the bulk of his Spurs career. He then downed tools, refused to sign an extension and left on the cheap a few months before his contract expired.

He did well for Brentford this season, I think he should stay there. United would be a bad move for him as expectations would be sky high and the pressure would be huge. Big fish in a small pond. Surrounded by Danes. Loved by everyone. If they’re offering him respectable money then he should take it.

This will likely be downvoted to oblivion by his fans but it doesn’t change the facts.
