"A lot of people" or is this just an axe you grind with Shadydan Shadydan ?

What "signs" are these then?

There's been no credible news or club statement to such an effect

All that's happened here is 'you know who' stirred the pot and a few voices here responded.... I doubt those same voices were jizzing at the thought of big spending to begin with.

Indeed..... It's only melts and trolls that aren't doing so.

Still, for ease of reference; the question still stands:

What minimum net spend amount would be acceptable?

...Because it's obvious the knives will be out for some unless we hit extreme levels of 300m or more.

Who gives a fuck how much we spend if we get the right players in who Conte wants?

The obsession with amounts is fucking weird. It's the kind of thing Woolwich fans are worried about. We have to spend that £150m this summer, so the expectation is we will. Who knows what state the squad is going to be in in January after a world cup and crammed schedule. Any extra funds we bring in now may well be required to be spent in January if we have any big injuries.

Gvardiol makes me nervous. He's a very Ndombele type signing, insane potential but also potential for a big big flop.

Still, there aren't many world class CBs available out there, and I'm kind of excited about what he could do.

We should just add another 50% on the value of players...

Richarlison valued at £50?...Don't worry lets just add another £50m on top just to appease the fanbase and look like we're flexing our muscles...

Raphinha valued at £60m? It's alright Uncle Joe's given us some change now, fuck it Fabio send £120m Leeds' way, that will show em!

Meanwhile Ajax has been making sill bids for Steevie...okay cool, give him away for £3m, after all we got to show that we're a big club right!

:levystare:
You've just added another 100% to those fees...

Nope, I've seen others backtracking on previous claims we will spend. Plenty of goalpost shifting to go around, he's just the worst offender.

I just don't see what there is that's worthy of bothering you..... If upon hearing about the150m injection someone assumes that it will all be spent this summer; yet it transpires that some of it remains unspent come Sept. who cares as long as we get good players in the right positions.....? Is that really a negative reflection on the individual? .............Let alone cause to worry about some figurative yet ultimately inconsequential "goal-posts"?

A pre-occupation with 'so-called' marque/statement signings is superficial non-sense in my 'humble' opinion.

Ndombele vs Kante? ...What value did 'beating Barca to the punch' bring? ...Exactly.

120m+ would be nice,

Big up... Few have the balls to talk in such catagoric terms.

considering it's what Woolwich spent last season WITHOUT CL football.

Couldn't give a shit about other clubs though... We all have our own financial predicament, needs and so on.

Obviously it's very dependent on who we go for (how high profile they are, wages etc..) but some serious investment in to top shelf quality would be great to see.

Do Raphina, Bastoni and such links fit that description for you?

I honestly think we're 'tier 2' in terms of appeal... Tier 1 being clubs that are assumed to be in a title race and perceived to b a high % chance of trophies. That's when you start to see top quality players content with riding the bench. (Ditto someone like Jesus who's leaving City and unlikely to want to swap their bench for ours and thus preferring to go to the scum.)

An extra 150m in the kitty doesn't really changes the game on either front.

The big boost to me is that it ought to spare us the delay of a sell-to-buy agenda whilst also allowing us to bid 'stronger' on certain key targets.

Nobody wants 300m or more, let's not be silly.

Mate, you're way too kind in your assessment of certain shit-stirring cunts that show no other concern or interest in football individuals that skulk around these pages.....

People want to see us get the window we were promised,

Can you tell me what this "promise" specifically was and who it came from?

Ditto the "signs" you mentioned in your last post?

(This is the most significant part of this reply IMO so if you glaze over the rest then so be it, but let's hear the concrete stuff at least....... )

the one loads of people were smugly telling us we just had to be patient for and are now already covering their tracks on.

Again you seem to be spinning your wheels in some muddy no-man's land between what the club say and do and what a few fans speculate may happen.....

You've said to me before that you refuse to indulge forum 'faction-ism' and narrative politics, but what else is this?

We should not be allowing Raphinha to go to Woolwich.

Fuck Arsnal.... We should sign him if WE want him bad enough. All the this 'sabotage' talk (of a guy that may cost 65m!) is fan flannel.

ENIC has taken out £150m which apparently gave us a boost for spending this summer.
Woolwich will have spent £85m already as they've signed Viera & on verge of Jesus.

In which case we will have spent 130m if we similarly factor in hypothetical deals for the other 2 Brazilians....

Wait for the chips to fall..... Your blood pressure will thank you.

Actuality:

We just signed a game-changing CM whom should elevate our first XI and a top class WB .

They have just added another lightweight tiny dancer to pretty up their bench.

Picking an arbitrary figure for net spend to qualify “success” in the transfer market is odd to me.

Perisic on a free is a great signing, as is Bissouma for the rumoured £25m. It’s all about getting the right players.

Having said that the importance of this transfer window cannot be understated because of the direct correlation it has to Conte’s desire to stay and (god willing) extend his contract here.

Add to that the demise of Utd and the odd position Chelsea find themselves in, it really does feel like a great time to strike.

There’s absolutely zero need to panic right now and it’s been a decent window so far. What appears clear to me is that when we get a chance to secure our priority targets for certain positions (Bissouma, Perisic and if he’d have fancied it dare I say Bastoni), we’ll probably move quickly.

Where we like a player but want to understand what other options might be available (Spence) we’re being more circumspect in the speed or our approach.

Some of the “domino” effects of transfers haven’t taken place yet and there is plenty of time to secure the circa 3/4 more players we’re looking for.

So in short; no need for melting, net spend means fuck all, but this does feel like one of, if not the most important transfer windows we’ve had in recent memory.

Option 1, 2, or 3?

Obviously, this is an overly simplistic view of this transfer window. It doesn't take into account wages, player availability, and other factors. This is just for fun.

Obviously this is all hypothetical but the figures do look very fair/realistic.

Option 1 maybe add Bremer on top and that is an outstanding team.

Conte isn't a god. There are limits. An expensive dud is very damaging for the club. Look at the Ndombele situation. That was Levy backing Poch.

Back the manager but don't surrender all critical thinking.

BTW, IIRC Salah was second choice for Klopp and the recruitment team had to convince him.
