I can understand that they are upset though. And, let's be honest, it's not the worst place to develop as a player.
The rumors about Jayden Meghoma leaving Spurs for Man Utd. didn't exactly make the Spurs fans happy (maybe he's joined them by now).
Chelski are experts at pinching top talents from other clubs and then claiming it was their academy that developed them (but karma is a bitch...so Chelski have also ended up selling many of their academy players on the cheap only for the same players to turn into stars at other clubs).
It's hard to make a water-proof rule about preventing other clubs from "pinching" academy players from each other clubs though.

“World renowned academy”… its a broom cupboard
One of, if not THE biggest myth in football.
How many have come through the academy in the past 10 years?
Like laying claim to winning the World Cup, this is just another attempt at remaining relevant.
Their top academy product ever is most probably Declan Rice...who they, ironically, pinched from Chelski when he was 15...
I have supported Spurs for 54 years and it pains me to say it but their academy in that time has produced way more top quality players than ours.
True top class internationals produced by our own academy that I can think of since 68
Hoddle , Judas , King , Kane . I might of forgotten someone from when I was 8 or 9 , but the number we produce is shockingly low
I don’t disagree with that but that’s why I said in the last 10 years, maybe Rice but he was Chelsea first but other than that, there is not many at all.
when i've watch these acadmey players in the school teams most don't stand out (some do look head and shoulders better than the other players in the school team)
we had 3 acadmey lads in my boys school senior school team (11 yrs old though to 17 yrs old) these acadmey lads trained at least 2 times a week + a match or extra training on saturdays, but we had at least 3 lads better than them who trained and played for the local grassroots teams
so what are these high paid coaches doing at acadmies ?
Acadmey lads when playing for the school teams should just stand out as miles better players, but in my watching senior school football for 15 yrs very few look miles ahead

The academy mallarky is just a game.
Sign up as many as possible and hedge your bets that 1 or 2 might make it to become professional class at any level. You can then sell those 1 or 2 to pay off the investment in the rest and maybe even make a profit.
Sure, occasionally you get some that are worth keeping at the club and they can be used on occasion to fill on some gaps. Probably once in a generation you hit the jackpot.
I do actually believe Levy wants an academy that can breed Spurs supporting youngsters, all ready to go into the first team.
I want to have a mid life growth spurt and add 6" to my height (Heard Levy wants that too) and for my hair to grow back (heard Levy wants that too) but it ain't going to happen.
In summary, Levy and I both want to be taller with hair and for all our academy players to progress into the first team.
