Huddersfield just signed Kyle Hudlin, a striker who is 6’9. Dan Burn is the biggest in the Prem currently isn’t he?

We are not going to end this transfer window with a 23 man squad with little drop off between players but we are going to end it with more than 11 players with limited drop off - to illustrate the point, assuming a 343 system :

Forwards - Its 3 from 4 players now (Kane, Son, Kulusevski, Richarlison )

And with the above, Spurs are likely to have a first team where its really 11 players from maybe 17 realistic 'top choices', some of whom will rotate as its not sensible to ply every weekday and weekend (ie 3 days rest between matches, and maybe less due to overseas travel) or rotate if Conte wants to operate with 2 or 3 different formations.

And on top of the 'maybe 17 realistic top choices' there are probably another 6 players who are not quite top players (eg Moura as a forward/wing back).

Of course the 'maybe 17' can only be firmed up at the end of the window.

And that's why Spurs are bringing in the likes of Richarlison to provide real competition and alternatives to Conte so he's not dependent upon picking a first X1 but can pick from maybe 17 players without a huge drop off in quality.

And Richarlison has not come here just to sit on the bench all the time as would be implied by picking the same starting X1, .

Keeps the opposition guessing too.

In addition, I expect we'll rotate WBs a lot, and often change them on 65-70 minutes for energy. But in the most important games, Perisic will probably be first choice for one WB position.

Defence is an odd one. Traditionally, keeping a settled defence to build understanding between players has been regarded as crucial. But Klopp seemed to rotate Matip & Konate alongside VVD almost every other match. And whilst Ruben Dias was mostly 1st choice for Guardiola, again his partner and the FBs rotated a lot. So there is more rotation of defenders than in the era of Milan's famous defence martialled by Baresi.

For us, I suspect Romero is nailed on to start when fit, as is Dier unless we buy an upgrade at CCB. Lenglet & Davies will compete for LCB, but Conte will want to give Lenglet several games to help him regain the confidence that was shattered at Barca.

I anticipate seeing fewer changes in defence than in other areas of our team. But ultimately Conte will do whatever he thinks gives us the best chance of winning week in, week out.

The funny thing about 5ft 8, is if you tell a stranger online you're that height they immediately think you must he tiny.
I'd hate to get into online dating. All those 5ft 1 inch women that want 6 footers and turn their nose up at us....until they actually see us.

6ft 2 is well well above average.
5ft 8 to 9 is average on a world wide basis for men. 5ft 10 is about the tallest average height anywhere in the world.

Stop moaning I’m 5ft 9 but used to be 5ft 9 1/2, I think there is a reasonable chance I’m 5ft 8 1/2 now but don’t want to check , getting old sucks

I've never found it much of an issue on tinder. Mainly if asked I'll just make a joke about it and as long as you don't come off as insecure it isn't an issue. There's obv some women who will just lose interest because of it but no big loss.

(Anyway this thread is way off topic now .. unless we're gonna be in for Messi.)

A bloke in my year was 6ft7 at 14. He played on our basketball team but was shit

Ended up 6ft8 and he’s massive. Seen him walking down the high road to games a few times and spotted him a mile off. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone that’s taller than him, let alone 7ft

My cousins friend is certifiably 7’3ft. He is the biggest person I have ever seen in my life, you honestly feel like a dwarf next to him.
