Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

That is according to Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest on Spurs’ remaining transfer plans this summer.

Antonio Conte’s side have been linked with Villarreal and Spain defender Pau Torres, but it seems as though the signing of Lenglet has signalled the end of their pursuit of another centre-back ahead of the new season.

This is also despite claims suggesting that outgoings at Spurs could yet see them delve into the centre-back market again before the end of the window.

Spurs have made six additions already this summer as Conte looks ahead to next season’s Premier League and Champions League campaigns.

And Jones believes that the club’s business so far this summer suggests that they won’t be investing in another centre-back this transfer window.

He said: “I think that the January window would probably make more sense to them anyway [to sign another centre-back].

“Barring an injury crisis, they’ve definitely got enough to get through to November when the season pauses, and then they could address it over the next mini pre-season I guess that you’re going to have and over the World Cup games.

“I don’t think we’ll see a centre-back coming in, if I’m totally honest.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…
We believe that Spurs are well set in the centre-back department going into the Premier League kick-off and it would be a gamble and a potential waste of money to buy another one.

Conte currently has six out-and-out centre-backs at his disposal at the time of writing, which is more than enough cover, even if he is to play a three-at-the-back system this season.

Spurs would be much better off spending their money elsewhere and waiting until January to re-evaluate the centre-half situation
Dean Jones normally writes for ESPN and I have found him pretty irrelevant.

Most of y’all are going to hate me. But I don’t think this window is anything above 6/10 (especially with the others improving) unless we bring in a proper CB and AM. Bissuma is brilliant. Spence I have a lot of hope for, but no guarantees there. Richarlison, I can just about live with.
If we see Maddison come in (finally a replacement for Eriksen) and Pau Torres, I think it’s 9/10. Let’s hope they’re not finished.
‘Y’all’

The fact you started with the bolded bit is a big indicator that you really know that your opinion here is hogwash.

We've brought in a proper CB - his name is Clement Lenglet. Having a bad time at Barcelona does not make him not a proper CB. He needs confidence and time - Kulu had a bad time at Inter...

Richarlison is a far better player than 'I can just about live with'.

Bissouma - yes, he is.

Spence - agree.

I would like to see an ACM like Maddison come in. If we can get another quality CB then great, but I can live without until next summer.

It's an 8/10 window at the moment imo.

But there's zero evidence that Conte DOES want him? So your post is irrelevant?

Also, why the fuck is this thread in the spurs forum rather than general football, when there hasn't been one single actual link from us to Maguire?

Admin Admin please remove this disgusting poo thread outta my sight!

What an absolute load of shite.

1. He's not 'obliged' to do anything that YOU say.
2. Everything he says is deliberate - already confirmed that when he was apparently throwing a hissy fit last season about leaving, it was designed to get a reaction from the squad...which it did.

Who the fuck do you think you are, or how qualified are you, to tell Conte to grow up.

Delete your embarrassing post.

Myself and Conte are both laughing at you.

Seeing as we’ve now entered offloading season how many do we think will leave and crucially where Will they go?

Will we get a buyer for them?

Winks - sale (Leicester/Southampton/Everton)
Lo Celso -sale (Villarreal?)
Regulion- sale/loan (Sevilla)
Tanganga-sale/loan (Milan)
Ndombele- loan (fucking anywhere)
Rodon - sale/loan (Forest?)
Sarr- loan (PL team ideally)
Gil - loan (Pl team ideally)
Doherty
Emerson

That’s a lot of work

The Daily Mail’s Matt Barlow has suggested that Antonio Conte could end up building a long-term project at Tottenham Hotspur.

Conte has not tended to stick around for a long time in his previous management roles, having spent three years at Juventus and just two years in each of his last two clubs at Chelsea and Inter Milan.

However, the Italian hinted at times last season that he would be willing to build a project at Spurs if his vision his backed by the club’s hierarchy (ESPN).

Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici have certainly shown so far this summer that they are willing to back the 52-year-old’s ideas, and the Spurs head coach has been quite complimentary of the new signings the club have made (Spurs TV).

Journalist Dean Jones revealed on The Done Deal Show earlier this week that Conte ‘is very content’ with how the club have done their transfer business ahead of his first full season in charge at N17.

Barlow has now suggested that the former Inter boss’ demeanour during pre-season indicates that he is warming to the idea of staying at Tottenham beyond the end of his contract.

The journalist wrote in his column for The Daily Mail: “For Tottenham, these are positive indicators. Conte is like a man possessed once again. Focused on the task at hand. Happy with the signings completed so far by chairman Daniel Levy and managing director Fabio Paratici. Happy to be out on the training pitch, whipping them into shape with his coaching staff with barely a second to spare for anything else.

“Every media obligation Conte conducted in South Korea was done politely and respectfully, flashing a few smiles while emitting a general vibe that he really ought to be somewhere else doing something so much more important.

“His intensity proves his commitment. No more wondering aloud if Spurs have ambition to match his own. Conte has trained his focus onto forging his team, transmitting his purpose and aggression. When this happens, some measure of success usually follows. He is yet to fail.

“Ultimately, he said it was a ‘simple’ decision to commit to go on in the Spurs job. Qualifying for the Champions League was the first hook. Recruitment to his satisfaction was the next. Maybe he is even starting to consider if this partnership could stretch beyond this contract, which expires next year.

“This will soon become an issue for Levy, who has already invested heavily in the Italian as the man to end Tottenham’s trophy drought. Can he tie down Conte to make this a long-term project? All the signs are good.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The one thing we know about Conte is that he is not shy about voicing his discontents publicly or even walking away if he feels he is not getting backed.

So, the fact that he has repeatedly praised the club’s work suggests that he has signed off on every decision that is being made in terms of recruitment.

I don't think we'll get rid of both Doherty and Emerson to be honest. More likely Emerson.

Winks > sold to another pl club or loan with obligation
Lo Celso > I think we'll sort a deal with Villareal
Reguilon > Sevilla (imo)
Tanganga - will go for sure - no idea where, and don't care
Ndombele - we are fucking fucked
Rodon - Loan imo
Sarr - keep (imo) then consider loan in Jan depending on game time he's getting - ideally PL/Champ
Gil - as above

Brings in cash and saves on wages though so if we can do it obvious gives us extra clout.

Winks - 10m
Lo Celso - 20m
Regulion - 20m
Tanganga - 10m
Ndombele - write off
Rodon 15m
Emerson or Doherty 10m
Gil 25-30m

Even if we use these low figures for sales that is still over 100m. I think we should be able to move most of them, Ndombele will be the harder one.

The bigger issue is do we wait to offload later and try to get a bigger price or do we move quickly to get in as much cash early. Guess it depends on who else we want and if we now need to fund purchases.
