or it's just good negotiating?

The player reportedly wants the move, he only has one year left so can go on a free next year. Atlanta are backed into a corner... If we say we want a loan with an option, Atlanta will have to reduce the purchase price to change our mind. Spurs are quite likely ok with a reduced transfer fee, perhaps in the region of £18m (very cheap), he's only on £23k p/w so bumping him up to £35k p/w on a three year contract means we won't be stuck if he's not amazing.

For a player who will be on rotation, £18m and £35kp/w is decent in the current market.

It would be a shrewd purchase. Only question is over our quota
Or Atlanta can sell to other clubs that will pay the asking price.

Tottenham Massive Tottenham Massive what do you wanna do John. Over pay for every player to act like a big club ?

Josh scowen of wycombe is available for half a million … attacking mid…. I think we offer 25m just to show we’re not small time

Nothing wrong with over paying for someone you think will make a real difference, even Paratici said that. Admittedly that probably doesnt apply to Josh Scowen.

I don’t think you know what overpaying means. The value of something is the amount someone is willing to pay for it (which itself should be linked to the benefit the buyer will get from purchasing).

What am I missing?

The Paratici quote probably explains it best 'if you like a player and think he is important you can pay a little more than the market price because you have to buy this guy. This can only happen if you are convinced of the players skills and potential. If you see a top talent and are sure of him you cannot lose him for a few million. Pay and move on'

Can’t do that every time but we’ve exceeded value lots recently so wholeheartedly agree

Grim in here. No real links that improve us the same people who claim to hate the ITK general talking endlessly about him. Ah well thank goodness for Persic Richarlison and Bissouma.
Ruslan improves us. It’s just the same low IQ morons in here complaining. If he don’t sign anybody else I wouldn’t be fussed. We already made 6 immediate signings that improve us. Signing depth player players that also could start is way better than last season.

The window is open for like another week. The rumors are going to heat up. Some people are just to impatient and just want to shit on the club.

Got a feeling we’ll be randomly link with a player out of the blue and it will be done quickly. They’re obviously working on somethings as we are being linked with loads of players again after a few weeks of quiet.

Jose Mourinho wanted to sign Russia international Artem Dzyuba as a replacement for Harry Kane at Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur, the striker’s agent Leonid Goldman tells Sport24.

With Kane ruled out for the long-term with a serious hamstring injury, Spurs went into the 2020 January transfer window desperate to bring in a new number nine.

Chelsea had no intention of allowing to Olivier Giroud join a London rival, however. Real Sociedad did not let Willian Jose go either. And Spurs ran into yet more problems when they tried to lure the colossal Dzyuba to England, with Zenit St Petersburg refusing to let their talismanic centre-forward leave midway through their title defence.

“Early January, I flew away on New Year’s Eve. Lying on the beach, (I received) a call from colleagues from the (Jorge) Mendes agency in Portugal,” explains Goldman.

Iberian super-agent Mendes, Goldman adds, was speaking on behalf of his client, the then-Spurs coach Jose Mourinho.

“(They said); ‘Kane is broken. Mourinho wants to buy a replacement – Dziuba’. I called Artem. He did not even believe at first. I said: ‘Everything is extremely serious, go talk to Zenit.’

“The club immediately made it clear that they would not let go of their leader in the middle of the season, so there was no specific documented offer. But the story of Tottenham’s interest is a billion per cent true.”

Dzyuba, of course, would have been the very definition of a short-term, quick fix. He did score 21 goals in Zenit colours that season, however. Who knows whether Dzyuba would have helped make up the six-point gap separating Tottenham from the Champions League places at the end of that season.

“When Harry Kane got injured at Tottenham, people contacted me,” Dzyuba himself told Russia24 at the time.

“Zenit said no. And that’s all. If Tottenham really wanted to sign me then I think they would have been more insistent. That said, the interest was real.”

Dzyuba, now 31, joined Turkish outfit Adana Demirspor earlier this month.
