It's never been about the manager. Never been about Poch, Jose, Nuno, and now Conte.
It has everything to do with how shit our players are.
We were massively lucky to finish 4th place last season.
We hit a purple patch at the end of the season - nothing else. We aren't a top 4 team.
Our recruitment and decisions made by ENIC/Levy have always been the problem.
The experiment was nice but PL has moved past him. When we were on top after scoring. We didnt press our advantage a take the game to newcastle at all we just sat back and let them off the hook. I'd like to see us switch it up and press.
Big picture our wingbacks are atrocious and when our defensive leaders Dier and Lloris we will always have mistakes in us. And we have no creativity in our side. It's a recipe for a bang average side.

If you have shit defenders it's probably not advisable to have 5 of them on the pitch at all times. That's on Conte.
As bad as the football/results are it would be ludicrous to sack Conte while Paratici is the Sporting Director. He builds squads to play this kind of football. He isn’t gonna be sacked anytime soon after being given the keys to bring in his own scouts and rebuild the football department. Sacking Conte will bring in another Nuno.
Funnily enough, this is pretty accurate.
Doesn't matter if we play 343, 352 or whatever. We haven't got the wing backs to be a successfully well oiled Conte machine. Perisic was a step in the right direction signing wise, because he'd been there and done it at left wing back at the biggest clubs in the world as well as with Conte.
But he has been a disappointment overall. The recruitment at full back, preceding Conte, has been a disaster. Udogie is a bright hope, but even then we don't have him until next summer and he's still just a 20 year old unproven player.
We've got this far with Conte because he's better then anything we've had before him over the last 3 years, we have some really good individual players and the quality across the league over the last 12 months has been declining steadily.
January window is most definitely important. We knew that last year and we were given Kulusevski and Bentancur who transformed us. We desparately need similar in the winter to try and transform us again into a team more akin to what Conte has been successful with in the past.
Its not just the individual mistakes. There is something seriously wrong with the football. We cant get out of our own half. We sit so deep we basically invited newcastle to score. This is all season. Sit deep in our half and play on the counter hoping Kane and Son produce something.
I cant remember the last time we actually pressed high up the pitch and retained possession and actually held the ball there consistently.. this was always Spurs. Play high up the pitch. Close the ball down quickly. Retain possession. Attack attack attack.
Now we sit in our own half with Dier clumsily passing the ball around. All that attack of Kane, Son and Richarlison and yet we are toothless. Completely isolated up top.
And some think that if we just developed Spence it would be the answer to all our problems.
Honestly fuck this wingback bullshit. Its pretentious bullshit is what it is. Just play good creative football, press and actually learn to pass the ball

I'm not absorbing Conte of blame. His decisions lately are strange and I suspect he will go at the end if this season. My worry is it will take a shit load of money to get rid of this group of dross.
That whole defensive back line needs to be completely rebuilt barring Romero who when he can be fucked is a good player.

Time to ditch the back 5. We don't have the players to transition and our attacking play is awful because we are too deep and can't get up to support the attack. The only way we are going to save this season is set the team up 15 yards higher up the pitch and to start pressing like everybody else is doing.
I'm still backing Conte but Gallardo would be my first choice if he left.
Possibly not in January, no.
But it shouldn't be hard to find competent full backs who can perform in a system that allows them to be an outlet and provide a problem for opponents.
If Victor Moses, Marcos Alonso, Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian, Stephen Liechesteiner etc. can all prove to be catalysts to title winning football teams in a system that gets the best out of them, then there are a lot of players out there who can do the same.
FFS, I reckon we'd probably look better out there with Neco Williams at RWB ffs.
