Royal - Dier - Lenglet - Davies - Sessegnon

this is what we should expect from a back 5 from a club like Brentford or Fulham. Not a champions league club
its fucking awful. i think

doherty-romero-lenglet-davies- perisic

is the absolute best we can muster up when all fit and even thats not great. the back 5 needs urgent work. we need 2 upgrades in this window coming, if it costs 60m so be it, we paid fucking 40 for that donkey sanchez ffs. upgrading that back 5 will drastically improve the performance and quality of the side. starting sess and emerson as your wing backs in a big game like today is baffling, you was always going to be on the back foot.

Been saying for weeks, there's more to this Royal thing than Conte thinking he's our best option. It's the only logical explanation IMO. There's some background bitching going on and it's probably because we signed a youth, didn't sell Royal/Doc and probably something else.
That's a bit childish from everyone really.
Royal is dogshit as an attacker but he does always make an effort, can't knock him there. Never seen him drag his feet and, somehow, his head never seems to go down.
Think I nearly caught one of his crosses today. In the 3rd tier of the east upper.

Absolutely

You can’t fault his effort or his athleticism and he’s really tried to improve himself but he isn’t a footballer

Certainly nowhere near PL standard and surely Conte must realise that and if he keeps picking him just to prove a point then he’s out of order!

Elite manager or not

Just got home from the game. Can someone please tell me if VAR looked at thatfirst half 'non' penalty? We were sat at that end and it was a clear, forceful shove in the back. What's the general, unbiased view? I saw a very clear, undoubted foul in the penalty box.

Spot on. Also the other options Doherty - Romero- Tanganga - Sanchez - Perisic. 10 defenders and only Romero and a 34 yr old Perisic are adequate. I honestly dont think any other prem side, even relegation sides, are looking at those options with any envy.

A few starters would majorly boost things, but acting like these lads aren't even good enough for back-up is BS:
??? / Romero / ??? / ??? / Perisic
[ Doherty (Spence) / Dier / Lenglet / Davies / Sess (Udogie) ]
Sell: Romero, Sanchez, Tanganga, Rodon
In the summer the #3 WBs from each side can do too.

I thought sess went down under minimal contact. Wasn't enough to warrant falling down like that for me personally.

There was a so-called review...... How much scrutiny was applied is another story. No notable stoppage..... Ball was back in play within seconds.

Kane just doesn’t press at all but has other qualities clearly

Any news on Richarlison because he can and does press?
Nothing on him so far.

I do wish Conte would actually give Kane the ocassional break. A front line of Richarlison flanked by Kulu + one of Gil/Perisic/Son would not be a bad way to go.

it was a pen. Even the biased liverpool lot at sky conceded they got away with one.

We also should have had a 2nd pen and possibly a 3rd if Konate was inside the box.

I genuinely can't watch us at the moment. I've been 4 times this season compared to the 20-25 games a season I have done for many years. Had a ticket for today's game and just couldn't be bothered to go. I don't even watch our League games on TV but do catch the odd CL match. I saw the Tweet of Kane's goal and that was the entirety of my viewing of today's game.

How pub players like Royal and Sanchez get to wear the famous Lillywhite shirt is literally beyond me.

I take my hat off to the fans that are still making the effort to attend.

I'll leave you with this.

"The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It is nothing of the kind. The game is about glory, it is about doing things in style and with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.”

Danny Blanchfower.

Overall performance was good today despite the result. We were a bit unlucky not to score more than one and Kulu coming on made it so obvious what we’ve been missing past month or so. But ultimately we’ve lost the game because of defensive errors again. Said it at the time and throughout this season, but not upgrading at cb and wing back was another majorly costly transfer window blunder. We really can’t afford too many more of these, upgrades are needed in January otherwise this will be a nothing season.

Did you get her phone number?

Rather that than the kid in the Liverpool shirt up at the Dispensary at full time shouting "take the L" at everyone who walked past while pointing at the Liverpool badge on his shirt.

Why the fuck is this allowed?
It's literally Beyond beliif!

Well Spence is no back while Conte is here sadly but agree he should be and Udogie isnt here yet and he'll hopefully be first team quality. I could take Davies as a back up, he's ok. Sess at a push but thats largely on homegrown. We really need to move on Doc, Emerson, Sanchez, Tanganga and i'd say Dier as well. Not seen much from Lenglet to sign him up either. RWB and 2 first team centre backs needed imo.
