Transfers January 2023 Transfer Thread. The Big One

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'm in France rather often so get to watch a fair bit of Ligue 1. Been to a few games and practice sessions over the years too. And loads of my French pals are PSG fans, so yeah I would say I know Kimpembe rather well.

And he's really, reaaaaallllyyy no world beater. Defo not a 50mil defender as he's been quoted. He is very strong physically but that's about it. Guy tackles loads but only because his reading of the game is so weak, he's so often caught out of position and tackling is the only thing he can do. Think it was Maldini who once said a great defender doesn't need to tackle, cause he's first to the ball. Kimpembe is a pretty poor passer too. But mainly, the guy is an absolute tart. Thinks he's some tough ghetto guy but he's a muppet. Always arguing with refs, insulting them...actually slapped a ref's hand away recently, talking to him in some weak ass slang. Always elbowing attackers, all the dirty tricks. Basically a cunt. The funny thing is, PSG have let go of so many talented youngsters over the years (Nkunku, Diaby, Coman the most recent) but they kept the worst of the lot in Kimpembe! One of my mates is a right encyclopedia when it comes to the PSG academy and I remember when Kimpembe first made the first team...he was gobsmacked cause he didn't even have him as one of the academy's brightest hopes...far from it.

Lots and lots of France fans were gutted when he made Deschamps' list for the WC...but now it's been announced he's injured and out so they're buzzing!

I sincerely hope we never ever sign him. He makes Ben Davies look like Nesta...and Ndombele like a hardworking well-behaved chap.
So Dier is actually world-class?!

:andros:

Probably bollocks, given the source, but I hope it’s true. We need another attacker what with Lucas’s injuries not clearing up, Son’s poor form (which I think will miraculously improve after the World Cup) and Richarlison hardly setting the world alight.

Moukoko is meant to be a real talent isn't he? Another one I haven't really watched, just know him off my Football Manager saves :dohertyshrug:

Thuram has been linked several times. We definitely need a new attacker though.. Trossard, Zaha, Asensio all out of contract this summer..

If it was only two (and it’s January so I get it) I’d be going for a CB and a RWB….

We are not getting in a RWB if we have 3 of them at the books + 2 players that can play there out of possession.

Plus, ffs, we scored like 1 goal from open play across 450 minutes at some strech.
Player whose main strenght is passing, ball-control and creativity in midfield is an absolute must.
Pretty much equally number 1 target with capable CB!

If we get in say Maddison and Bastoni, it would be pretty nice.
Not quite expecting them, but just to give an example of what type of players to hunt.

Thuram is a bit of an unknown, Asencio is just not good enough.

Either Trossard or Zaha would be very exciting for me. Trossard especially. He can't finish half as well as Son but he's miles better in every other department.

He'd be a perfect complement to Kane and Kulu. He's got so much finesse and agility, doesn't lose the ball a lot under pressure. He presses relentlessly and as of last season, he is a reliable goal scorer. Perfect aginst bus parking cunts.

His contract is running out too, so like Bissouma, he could be had for a very reasonable fee.

Thuram was/is also on Inter's watch list since Conte was high on him when there. And his contract expires in 6 months.

Plays mainly as a CF this season I believe but he is also able to play on either wing.

Watched him a lot when COVID lockdown was on and was good then with Plea, form did drop for a while but been good this season again..
Physically built for the Prem and yeah has played on the wing for Gladbech

what about mckennie?
could he be another underrated purchase like the one of bentancur?

Not a good choice when we already have Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Bissouma and Skipp all playing in a 'similarish' position, and he's not going to be a guaranteed big upgrade.

Better use for that money we can upgrade say Sanchez at CB to strengthen our choice of CB's or get an alternative to Kulusevski (ie upgrade on Moura), both would make bigger improvement to the squad than bringing in McKennie now.

RWB and CB are the two positions we need to strengthen first.

Then another attacking option and a new goal keeper.

£199,99 million should do it.

Absolute yes to Trossard, the lad is class.

Thuram - thanks, but no thanks. Good player, but poor mentality. Spat at an opponent during the Covid crisis, didn't he? On fire this season, yes, but entirely different story last year between poor form and injuries. Big no from me.

Moukoko certainly is a talent, but still so young...is he ready to move to another country, a more physically demanding league? And he'd cost a fair amount, I bet. Especially if he does well at the WC. Gotta convince Dortmund first.

Not too excited with Bastoni, every time I watched him he looked average.

Was class in the year they won the league, really really good

Bastoni has dropped off since then under Inzaghi especially this season but it's not surprising as Inter have been pretty inconsistent.

He'll get back to the level he was 2 years ago under Conte I'm sure of it.

And, his Dad… genetics of pure quality if passed on. Prime Lillian at RWB now, drools…

Never seen him, but like Chiesa, loved the Dads (and Chiesa for Italy lived up to dad, not quite the finisher but more dynamic).
