Player Pape Sarr

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If Kulusevski remains out I'd like to see us try a 3-5-2 with Sarr holding and (whilst Gil has impressed he still looks lightweight and I remain concerned he does not goals in him) Kane and Son back in their normal partnership. Hopefully that will (a) make us more solid at the back, (b) allow Højbjerg and BEntancur to dominate midfield with a higher press, and allow them to join attacks more, and (c) remove Son for dropping into midfield and losing the ball, and get him running in behind more consistently again (where his deflected goal came from the other night against Palace).

Lloris
Romero -- Dier -- Lenglet
Sarr
Doherty ----Højbjerg ------ Bentancur ---Perisic
Kane -- Son

100%. Also gives the WB’s extra security (with a dedicated DM) to really hit the final third knowing Sarr can cover gaps. We simply been far too obvious in a 523

I like the look of that formation whilst both Kulu & Richarlson are out and agree with your earlier assessment of Hojbjergs weaknesses in possession- for me he only has a future in midfield if it's part of a 3 and given licence to push forwards, if we continue with a 2 man cm then we need a new partner for Bentancur who is better when recieving the ball on the turn (among other things)

We've got a very special player on our hands with this one haven't we.

Got everything you want in a young player. He'll go onto achieve anything he wants in the game. Wonderful young talent. I love seeing kids like this come through. Calm, in control, confidence in himself and just has that pedigree potential. The last player I remember having caught my eye as much as a young pup was when Bale blossomed. Kid is going to be an absolute star

That is not his every touch.
That is his highlight reel.
First half he passed two fairly simple diagonal balls straight out of play.

I don't know about others, but I felt that he was much more ordinary against Pompey than he was against Crystal Palace.
But I have to agree - his performance in Pompey game was better than Skippys....
I think that is a more balanced assessment of his performance

CM's in this system are a little bit governed by the wing backs. if he had actual quality wingbacks with him im sure he would of had a far better highlight reel. sess and emerson are just fucking awful, he wasnt helped out by having skipp as his partner i thought he had a poor game. nearly broke some poor blokes ankle after a hospital touch.

this kid is a player, intuition tells you this. comfortable playing football with both feet too, can move the ball about efficiently in the middle.

I think it is arrogance to play the same system whatever the opposition and whether Home or Away. Would like regular switches between 2 & 3 in midfield even within matches. This would give greater opportunities to the likes of Sarr. When back to 2 matches a week we must use these players rather than Knackering the whole team. Whilst there are some always play stars such as Kane, they do not all fall into that category and whilst Hojbjerg is no 1 starter, he will be the better for resting.

All aboard the Pape Matar Sarr hype-train! Choo choo!!!

He started the games a bit nervous but that was entirely appropriate. The impressive thing was he mastered those nerves and even more impressive he did not try too hard. He kept it simple didn't start attempting show stuff, step overs silly flicks and over hit Hollywood balls. He showed maturity that's the bit along with a good touch and forward pass is why people are excited.

He was calm and composed.

But far often in that first half his press was being beaten constantly. Like he'd never played in a press before. Not that it says too much because we can't tend to press for shit anyway.

Definitely got a bright future. Was actually better than Hojbjerg too.

I thought he was okay, not his best game but so many players were dreadful that he stood out as one of our best players. Big future ahead of him.

Looked okay for someone in a crap side with so little xp can see why Conte has taken a shine to him .
But we really need world clas in the middle if we're gonna play with just a 2

That can't be right people here told me he was shit and couldn't play EPL football and never would. If Pochettino is coaching this lads had a full season under him near enough. He is better than Hojbjerg now. I want him starting games with a fit Bentancur

Wouldn't Poch just have him training with the first team and not actually giving him games, whilst ruining his development in the mean time?
