Couldn’t this just be a bit like the Gil scenario? Wouldn’t it have been a good idea to give Spence two or three starts - just to see if he might be viable - before spunking 40m on a 4th WB? When we desperately need a GK, CB’s, WLF, 8/10 type and a midfielder with a speed setting above plod?

Because back then he was still saying Dier has all the tools to be a world class CB. Lets hope he's moved away from that now.

Careful now, we'll get people saying that we're not the ones seeing him in training every day, and that there is probably a very good reason for him to not get more than 5 minutes.

Someone like Nathan Collins who’s playing well for wolves tonight and is better than Dier could have been got from Burnley. Could have probably sold them Rodon too and killed two birds with one stone.

But no, we were too busy trying to get players like bastoni who we had no chance of signing

Build around the youth that we have, and give them time (by which I mean don't expect results immediately). The old guard (Hugo, Dier, Davies, Sonny, even Kane if he doesn't want to stay) should all go, as painful as it is to see them go, in some cases. Build around a core of Romero, Udogie, Skipp, Bissouma, Sarr, Gil, Scarlett, Richarlison etc.

A complete and total revamp is needed. From the head (the board) all the way to the bottom (the medical team). The only person I'd keep at the club is Paratici. I'm as Conte in as they come, but for this job not even him can do it. Has to be a manager like Gallardo, Genesio or even Poch at a stretch.
