The way Levy sees that is..

Why pay for something now, when I could maybe have it for free in 6 months?

Levy is terrified of on the field success - it would mean he has to plow more money in to keep it up. He sacked one of the greatest final winning managers in the history of the game 5 days before a final.

They aren't here to see shiny cups go into the cabinet - they're here to see revenue come in from sporting and musical events, and then fans revenue from their second interest, which is the club. They are more bothered about buying land and turning it into flats and golf courses than they are winning the FA Cup.

To the board now Tottenham is an entertainment and property company, not a football club.

We're probably going for Zaniolo because he'll be available on a loan with option/obligation to buy. God forbid we decided on the best possible target concluded a swift, efficient deal. . Even Richarlison, imagine he became our target because Everton needed a sale last summer to balance books. I'm sure the terms are very favourable to us with the payments being made over 5 years.

Yep. We dont identify players based on talent and squad need and then bust a gut to get them. We go for players 99% of the time based on 'can we do a deal' be it contract running down or from a skint club. You might get the odd gem that way but mostly it ends up with us stockpiling middling players.

And people are going to say “remember Kulu’ ad nauseum now when we sign these middling/poorly performing players, as if it applies every single fucking time. We got lucky.

People said it about Lenglet and shock horror .. most out of favour players who have been meh for long periods of time continue that trend.
