Would like to know why our significant deals always seem to be a loan with obligation.

There has to be an underlying reason.
It is very Italian for lack of a better word.

A lot of Italian clubs line up big signings like this. You initially take them on loan and then activate the option if it works out.

Paratici is our obvious Italian link. But Leonardo Gabbanini, our head of player recruitment, is also from Italy so it tracks.

Doesn't Maguire play on the left of a 2 or 3? He would replace Lenglet when his loan expires I guess.
He does, but his profile suits Dier's role more than anything else IMO. A role mostly dedicated to covering for others, set pieces, and organising the defence while Romero and others do the heavy lifting.

It's extremely damning as to the state of our squad that pretty much every player we want rid of is just about a loan.

Out on loan
Rodon
GLC
Winks
Reguillon
TND
Doherty
Gil

Still yet to shift Moura, Sanchez, and need to move on Dier, Davies, Tanganga etc and upgrade.

I suspect in the coming 2-3 seasons our net spend will have to be quite high just because we don't really have any assets to let go. Even if we sold Kane in the summer, he's not going to command a mega-fee like he would have 2 years before.

So Woolwich miss out on both Mudryk and Caicedo and instead go for bargain basement Trossard and Jorginho instead.

Bare in mind both Mudryk and Caicedo wanted to go Woolwich.

Hope it costs them and they crash and burn.
