Player Dejan Kulusevski

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

To be fair, Kulusevski was always touted to being one of the better prospects in European football along with Bentancur. Both just hideously out of form in a Juventus team that didn't suit them.

They're both living up to their potential but I would put that more down to the fact they're now getting consistent football in a system that probably suits them better than the previous teams they were at. Kulusevski most certainly.
Agreed.

My question is why utilizing a player in the correct role, in the right system and getting better performances, isn’t improving them?

With youth players, sure you need to teach them fundamentals and understanding of the game. With a pro, using them properly and getting them right mentality is probably the main way to improve them??

I'd argue that getting the best out of someone and improving someone isn't really the same thing.

Moyes didn't improve Lingard as a footballer, but he got the best out of him when he was at West Ham for example. He's now back to being bang average at Nottingham Forest.

Latest out of Italy is that we MIGHT not make Dejan's loan a permanent one (silly thought). They cite that we are currently outside of the CL places, which would activate the obligation. And obviously Conte possibly leaving.

But still, we still have a option even if we don't get CL football. And I cannot see us not going hard for Dejan's permanent transfer. The fans adore him and he knows it. He knows that at Spurs he is a certified star. And he ain't going to Serie B if Jvue get relegated.

its a nonsense story with no substance, just a wild guess that we might not choose to buy him because we might not get CL which would've actived the obligation

Exactly. Italian journos reaching for a story.

Dejan may have come here because of Fabio and Conte. But now he's integrated at the club and any manager coming in would obviously see him as a valued key player. He knows that he is set here.

Wait for "Levy wants to miss out on CL so he doesn't have to spend money on the transfer"

It's a plot I tell ya

Kulusevski story is utter guff I've yet to see a player so clearly happy and enamoured with his choice of club. Here's my perdiction we will win something in the next calendar year and this lad will be instrumental to the win. He's the Prince that will break our curse.

Probably more that without an obligation it may open the door for another club to buy him from Juve
It's still a daft story, there's no obligation if we don't make CL, but we still retain the option, so somebody at the club would have to have a monumental lapse in brain function to sit back and say "nah fuck it, let's not bother keeping this guy..." for that to be a possibility.

It's not so different to claiming that the door could be open for clubs to sign Haaland because Man City could choose to terminate his contract, but clearly they fucking won't.

What would be the possibility of juventus not agreeing to the "option".

Unlikely, but a possibility ?

We would have the option to purchase before (say) 30 June 2023 for a set amount signed in a contract.

So we would try to exercise that - Juventus could only go to court to try to overturn that if they thought the grant of the option was somehow incorrect (eg option given through fraud) I'd have thought.

Which makes chances of Juventus trying to avoid it vanishingly small ?

They are bound by an obligation either way, they would have to find some kind of obscure loophole to back out, is my understanding anyway.

However, stranger things have happened, remember Atletico screwing over Southampton to sell Toby to us? I'll feel much happier once his transfer is completed and he's no longer classed as a Juve player on loan to us, we must be pretty confident that the agreement is cast iron in our favour to not have rushed to finalise it already I guess.

Also, I would imagine Juve aren't currently in any position to be playing silly buggers on the transfer front.

As far as i understand it having an option to buy doesn't stop another club putting in an offer whereas obligation means it's a done deal just delayed a year or whenever the criteria is met.

No that's not right, the option/obligation thing is purely a difference from our side obligation means if the criteria have been met then we cannot pull out of the deal, if not met then it becomes our choice whether to pull the trigger or not.

As far as Juve are concerned they have no say in the matter now unless we decide we aren't signing him, which would be bizarre. They cannot sell to another club unless we allow it, or the deadline for us to complete the deal passes without action.
