So I guess the Hincapie rumor was BS?

This seems a little at odds with wanting Qatari money so we can become part of and compete with what is, in effect, a de facto cartel within the PL.

No it doesn't, if we had Qatari money we'd actually have a shot. The Super League would be a closed shop, its there to protect the traditional big clubs, nothing more. We'd be there so they have somebody to play against.

Anyone in the PL can get bought up and improved. It might not be "fair" but at least its not an invite only closed shop for the elite of Europe.

I am underwhelmed yet again with our activity, why can’t we occasionally be whelmed , not asking for overwhelmed , just whelmed
To be fair, anyone who says they weren't happy with the summer window at the time is lying.

Bissouma - Linked with every top club.
Richarlison - Linked with top clubs and is a talented player
Perisic - Conte favourite and top player
Spence - Excited us all
Lenglet - Granted he was back to Barca.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing..

There were lots of posters who weren't happy at the time and said so. Or at the very most were barely satisfied.

It was and is a good window. Most of those signings are underperforming, it's true, but most of our players are underperforming. If Richarlison who scored in the doubt digits for Everton to save them from relegation can't score a single goal, if Bissouma who was widely considered the best CM outside of the top 6 can't get game time, maybe it's time to question whether there's something more going on, and whether it's related to Son suddenly forgetting how to play football, Kane losing his playmaking abilities, our entire defence suddenly shitting themselves after being top 4 for goals conceded last season. If a team has several players in their worst form ever, and none in particularly good form, there's probably more going on than underwhelming transfers.

The PL may not technically be a closed shop today, but it's not really that far off. We might get to a point where 20-odd teams attract massive investment but, at that point, the incentive to invest outside of those 20 teams will be be gone and the PL becomes a fully-fledged closed shop... basically, a UK-based Super League.

He scored 7 without penalties & no longer takes them. He's also now a LW/depth player instead of the focal point of the whole attack.

In what world were we going to spend like a Chelsea and fix all of our needs this window.
In a world where we back our World Class manager, in a world where we take a risk to get Top 4 and try to win the FA cup, In a world where we want to show Kane we have ambition, In a world where we dont want to get left behind from our South London Neighbours who havent finished in front of us in years, In a world where Daniel Levy doesnt hold the keys to the War chest! :levylol:

We got our new Eriksen/ Modric type player on the books already in Bryan Gil

Id imagine he has impressed Conte since he was given a run in the side post World cup but can we guarentee him a starting berth in the team right now??????

No

If im Conte i would be sending him back to Sevilla on loan for the rest of the season with the knowledge that come the summer he'll be the key player the team will be built around

He gets to go back to his former club in a desperate time of need showcase his true potential on a consistent basis and keep Sevilla in the Spanish top flight then come back to rip the premier league apart next season its a win -win situation for both parties
He knows the Spanish league though and is quite suited to it, I would have rather him go to a PL or even a championship team and work on the Physical side of his game

We've got a better chance of pulling something off within the Premier League (or hoping for better owners) than we have if we get locked down to the Super League (good luck getting ENIC to sell then) and winning the participation trophy every season but raking it in.

If people don't like the trophy count now, have fun when we're involved in that shit show. We could go 100 years without winning anything.

And he still was comfortably the top scorer in an absolutely dismal side. When the going got tough at the end of the season he started scoring every other match. We've also seen him be Brazil's best player in the World Cup a month ago. There's a problem here that goes beyond the players and their abilities.

No this one

I get the impression Gil was fucked off with lack of playing time, probably compounded by the Danjuma deal. Walked straight off the pitch vs Preston at the end despite the fans serenading him.

I'd also rather keep him instead of Lucas but if Kulu stays fit Gil wasn't getting much game time. Just hope he comes back as a big part of our plans.

I think that's a massive "if". I get the kid might be fucked off but he's just starting to actually get regular playing time, be that starts when Kulusevski was out or subs. I'm absolutely all for sending kids out when the aren't getting game time and it's stifling their development, but he had a loan last year, is now starting to get regular minutes, was actually looking like a viable squad player and, most importantly, I think he offers something creatively and off the ball that none f the other - pretty meagre options - do.

We are now an injury away from Moura bouncing around like a headless chicken or Richarlison or Danjuma playing out of position - and Richarlison barely adds much more creatively than Gil and DanJuma is very much an unknown quantity/quality at this point.
