It was an average window for January, but it didn’t really seem like they were trying that hard to convince Conte to sign.

Also with the recent news of his surgery it seem more likely to me that he probably won’t be here next season.

Gallbladder surgery is pretty routine with an easy recovery. I dont think that will have any bearing on if he stays or goes.

It may not be the physical issues of the surgery itself that affects him but the mental side of things.

I've had to have fairly minor surgery before, and at the end of it I found myself questioning my life, the hours I put into my education/job felt hollow, and I could never get rid of that feeling.

He will be (likely already is) an incredible manager.

Players will run through walls for him.

I wouldn't work for him.

End of. I have absolutely no problem being told when I'm doing something wrong and appreciate pointers and advice.
But if some one screams and yells at me like that I'm more likely to lose my rag and end up in a fight.
There's no need for it.

If you wanna get me pumped up and fighting in the 2nd half a game, stick some drum and bass or thrash metal on loudly.

Wouldn’t do much for me either. I spent my formative years in the military so I have been shouted at by the best. In one ear out of the other. I’d just zone out and think about something else.
Now if you want to tell me specifically where we went wrong and how to improve on that I’m all ears.
I think the screaming manager is a ridiculous cliche with a very limited shelf life.

I wouldn't last 5 minutes in the army/military. I'd be banged up after probably being beaten up.

Replacing Spence and Gil with two ready-made players is actually exactly what you'd do if you wanted to convince Conte to stay. Whether he will is a different question.

10mins tops get your point across to 11 players - every body I have come across in top level football has stories of managers getting angry.

Might be a cliche but the most successful managers in the last 50 years - to a man - would have all used this tactic.

Maybe things will change with the sone generation coming through though.
