My memory might be wrong but from the reading the evening standard and other papers Poch wanted roughly the below at different points:

Mane
Zaha
wijnaldum
Luke Shaw
Lo Celso
Ndombele
Sessengnon
Waynama
alderweireld

Some of those players we couldn’t get as we where on the net zero period. Mane and Wijnaldum would have massively boosted us.

Pressing football? With Harry Kane up front? Perisic?? Son over 30. Forget it.

I’d be amazed if he lasted more than 18 months - we need a total rebuild of the squad. A 4-5 year project.
Perisic won't be there, Udogie will. Son and Kane as well will most likely be gone, so the pressing forwards will most likely Richarlison, Kulusevski and a new LW (maybe Gil?).

Then we have players such as Bissouma, Bentancur, Skipp, Romero etc. who are much more suited to the Poch system, in theory.

Will it be as good of a side? Obviously not. But it'll be way more fun to watch. And at the end of the day, the scum is winning the League with Nketiah up front.

Hahaha.... You are priceless..... You actually think this is a sharp 'gotcha' reply to what was being spoken about don't you.

Hilarious!

...But tragic at the same time.
No mate, I am not here to catch such a talented person like yourself out god forbid.
Was just asking a question, with all the shit surrounding our team, maybe everyone could get on board with each other for a bit.

There were other players that he wanted that he got too:

Aurier
Jansen
Llorente
Foyth

I don't understand why we would have spent 30m on Shaw when Rose was on fire.

Considering Conte & Mourinho who had both been positive when reflecting on the business done during respective windows are given

Like i said previously the man said he had no influence over buying and selling of players and that his duties reflect that of a coach and not those of a manager - i feel if you want to suggest he meant something other than what those words are saying it's you that should be substantiating it
Do you think he is perpetuating some sort of Pochettino conspiracy theory?

Surely not?

He always seems such a sensible boy.

We had 5 good years and all of some want to remember is last season where all fall apart. Dier and Davies are still in our starting lineup.
Davies wasn’t even starting in 2015 ffs, he is in 2023.

I’m just afraid of another Levy type manager. At least with Poch we know what we got.

After the Real Madrid friendly summer 19 he quite clearly distanced himself from non coaching decisions and named buying & selling players as an area that was not 'in his hands'

Personally i think any transfers made during the period Hitchen was at the club should come under a great deal of scrutiny - we were buying well before he came in and have bought well after Paratici took over from him.

Regarding Ndombele one of the first things Poch said after buying him (asides from distancing himself from transfer decisions) was that he was 2 years away from PL standard - that throws some doubt on the deal imv
That's was the day we won the audi Cup and in the press room after he was as miserable as anything. It was when the news of the Dybala deal fell through. I'm sure he worked hard to get this sorted and between Hitchen and Levy they couldn't get it over the line.
He totally checked out from the club from that moment on.

I don’t think our fanbase has the patience that Arteta was given.

This didn’t happen overnight down the road.

Happy to be proven wrong though.

No but they slowly got good young players, the system he uses has clear growth. They are doing what we did with Poch but properly recruiting.

Most fans would give a manager doing that time as we did with Poch. It’s more whether Levy will back the manager and give time.

I would say they spent a lot for a club that isn’t in CL. Something Levy couldn’t done even when we were fighting for the league.

(He said he was merely "a coach" - which was false anyway... He was promoted to manager after Paul Mitchel left...... Hitchen wasn't promoted to the same level that Mitchel was previously cos Poch was propelled higher up the foodchain.)

I'm not (personally) "suggesting" anything........

Like I already said; the comments you are alluding to were a response to a journo's question. A question provides context to the answer. It's an additional aspect to the comments that you're not prepared to factor in.

Let's back up slightly to something else you glossed over.... IF Poch has no say in player signings then why is there a long list of players saying that he was the won that talked them into coming?

True but most of our money from the Poch period went on the stadium, £400m got paid on it and we are left with £700-800 debt We won’t have that issue going forward. Our spending levels have risen a lot now.
