.@ErikLamela can understand why some #THFC fans would want Mauricio Pochettino to return to the club

“I haven’t spoken to Mauricio for a while but I feel huge appreciation for the years we spent together, it was a long time and we shared a lot of things.

“Mauricio was a very intelligent coach, who knew always how to lead the group in the best way. He loved working hard, improving, that sense of competition. He was always looking for every detail. He had lots of qualities and that showed in the results that we had.

“I think the fans have great affection for him because of all the things he did for the club, during all the years he was there.

“He put the club at the top, both in England and in Europe, and for many years, and at Tottenham that shouldn’t be underestimated.

“The fans enjoyed that. I hear they want him back. I understand it, whether it will happen, I don’t know.”

In many ways things didn't turn out the way we expected with this lad, and in this context more importantly the way he most likely expected. I mean, given the fee and how he was playing in Italy. He never became the star we hoped and he was never front and center under Poch. To still have these well thought out words speaks volumes about both him and Poch imho.

I'll always have huge respect for how Lamela developed and handled himself. He could easily have gone the Dele way.

be extremely brave of Boehly if he appoints Gallardo, doesnt speak english, only managed in south america.
I'd almost respect it really for a club that can't be arsed to wait for typical football projects to bear fruit

I don't know if it will, or should be Poch, however some people are assuming that it wont be him due to not being in place already.

From my understanding, and reports are mixed, he was in a bitter battle with PSG over a compensation package as they wanted him gone before his contract expired in June 2023. If reports are to be believed, he got €15m, with his staff getting the full remainder of their packages on top.

It's fair to assume as part of this deal, PSG will have a clause in place whereby he forfeits this payment if he signs for another team before June 2023. So no club is going to want to cover this, and no person is going to want to give that wedge up, so everyone just has to bide their time.

I thought the social posts of the crew back together, were a little strange and it might upset Spurs if it was letting the cat out of the bag, however if an agreement is in place, but it can't be announced until June, this is a sly way to keep a big section of the fanbase happy. And nothing stops his crew working, assessing things for the coming season.

I know i'm putting 2+2 together but I think it's highly unlikely it wont be Poch. I believe Fabio will be gone by the end of April with a new chap in and working before the season is out, having been briefed by Poch on what he needs going into pre-season.

I’m liking your train of thought there. I’m sure it will be pretty easy to find out if there are any reports about PSG putting him on gardening leave until the end of his contract. Although I think it was the Athletic who said recently Poch hadn’t been approached. You can probably take that as gospel as he’s done work for them in the past so is probably easy to get a quote from.

I’m no European expert but as a BT subscriber I watch a fair bit of uefa competitions
He is getting noticed more and more
Manager of feyenoord and doing very well - got to the Europa conference final last season heading towards the title this season with a brand of exciting effective football - slot beat ten hag to last seasons Dutch manager of the season award - looks a good bet to get a prem job sooner rather than later

People forget he also finished 2nd on goal difference with AZ too. Without mentioning what he's achieved at Feyenoord.

Who knows how that season could have gone.

At the end of the season there will be two really big managerial jobs up for grabs. Madrid and Paris. The likes of Nagelsmann, Poch and Enrique will be hoping to land one of those positions. Conte probably thinks he is also in that mix (yes, course you are you little cunt). There is also the Chelsea revolving door which I suppose we have to think about too because they like to throw so much cash around. If any of the three miss out I think we could stand a good chance. If not then we will end up with Slot or Rogers - neither of which I find inspiring. And neither will Kane.

Why is the Madrid job up for grabs?

I thought Ancelotti signed on until 2024?

Will be interesting tomorrow night when they face Roma again, see if he can get them to another European final with the league title nearly wrapped up

Probably

Franco Baldini hasn't aged well...

I've searched and not found anything, but often comprise agreements are bound to confidentiality on both sides, so the lack of info doesn't surprise me. When he left us he couldn't work for another team before his paid leave ended, otherwise we would be due compensation so it's most likely the same is now true.

Whilst he might be on good terms with the Athletic, he wont risk upsetting a new employer, or causing an unnecessary legal battle with PSG for a quote.

Again I might be clutching but the apparent silence doesn't really mean much to me. I really don't see us scratching around like the Nuno debacle this time

I remember that AZ were robbed in 2020 when the Eredivisie got cancelled because of Covid, but I didn't know that Slot was the one managing them. That gives him a lot more credit as well in my opinion.
