More problems for Chelsea… if they let one overpaid donkey go on a free, another will will be sent back to them in the post:

With the entire footballing world knowing that they need to get rid of players fast.

Good luck getting good money for any of them.

They always somehow get good money for their players though so I reckon they'll be alright

If they sell their homegrown players Loftus Cheek, Mount and Gallagher that's easily £100m at least

Kante, Kovacic, Pulisic, Ziyech - They can get money for them.

Selling Kovacic is big, that guy is good enough for City, he has improved so much.

I think he's a great centre mid. The thing is though it is a risk for Clubs to buy (lots of money and would have to pay big wages - so the investment is huge) as at his age you're likely only to get 2yrs max at peak, with an outside chance that he's might already have peaked.

It makes sense of hang onto a player this age if he's been with you for ages, as you know his output and where he might be on the spectrum of decline. It's odd to me that they would sell him unless they know he's peaked??? The same would be said of Kante and why City held onto Gündoğan (I think he's supposed to be off this summer) and Fernandinho.

IMO the best players in this role all have one key attribute and that's legs, when their ability to cover ground diminishes it really affects how the team plays. Fernandinho & Dembele are two examples of this. Obviously, their on ball ability is still elite which is why Phillips hasn't got close to breaking into this side.

City could easily afford the risk for the next couple of seasons. But would have thought Bellingham has much more upside.

Kovacic has one year left so I guess he wouldn’t be too expensive maybe 40-50m. Bellingham is elite but he could end up £120-30m.

Legs is clearly an issue but even if you get 2-3 years of peak Kovacic that could help you win things.

I just wouldn't take the risk.

The maths also don't really add up between the two it's clearly "cheaper" to spend an extra £50-£80m on Billingham and have him for years. With Kovacic, you would have to sign him to at least 3 probably 4-year deal and maybe only get 2yrs max from him (but arguably not even at the same output physically as Bellingham), wages would be give or take the same.

Clubs should just not trade with them instead and force the club to the wall. That would be the sensible long term decision rather than helping them out in the short term by buying their players.

Absolutely.

They are vulnerable atm; helping to bail them out for the sake of saving a few million by buying players you might otherwise not want is incredibly short-sighted.

Won’t happen though, to many half decent players other clubs here and abroad would want. Only thing though is as club know Chelsea have to sell all those players could end up going at half price or less and what’s worse Chelsea’s high wages for many of the players will lower the fee if they are forced to get rid.
