I hardly think a DoF or manager will be appointed until levy has finished his spending and sales spree. Kinda a waste of time before hand as they would be liable to walk out. Still with our new squad of Forrest green rejects and three legged chickens we will be set for battle.

Nagelsmann is clearly a very competent and promising coach.

But given how he was sacked by Bayern in spite of the results and that Chelsea also distanced themselves from him. Maybe there is something about him that keeps popping up.

We as a fanbase obviously want the club to do their due diligence since they seemingly didn't on Paratici. So maybe something came up in that stage. Or do we only want that when it is someone that the fanbase isn't enamoured with?

Just to play Devil's advocate.
I think it was naglessmsnm who dismissed chavs not other way round. That’s when we all started to dream that the stars are all aligned for us especially as tt was already holed up at BM. Ofc our board knew better and out the pin in the ballon. There is no way in earner there is a better manager avavilsble and exactly right for us than JN. Ffs we wanted him 2 years ago.

I'm extremely keen on Hayley Atwell, though I don't rate my chances.

:harryhmm:

Just one normal day of supporting Spurs, that's all I ask for.

I actually understand the logic in not running back to Poch. Being as clinical as possible, it's our current situation mixed with the FOMO and emotional baggage that makes him going to Chelsea as painful as it is right now. Having said all that, if you compare and contrast the manner in which they got on with a managerial search vs us, it's embarrassing.

Edit: also, what sporting director in their right mind wouldn't suggest 'having a look' at Julian Nagelsmann? Unless the guy boils hamsters in his spare time, he's an obvious frontrunner on paper.

:dembelelol:
Exactly !

Never heard that saying before, it’s a new one on me. I’d be amazed if it’s Rodgers. It’s just more clickbait for a rabid fanbase. It’s very easy to get bites off spurs fans on social media at the moment. Very easily triggered.
That's because I just made it up...

On the spot!

Go me! 😎

I'd be amazed too. We've had years of watching that lemon flatter to deceive, then see the wheels fall off rapidly in the Prem.

Granted he has an FA Cup, but so does Martinez.

It's both amusing and infuriating reading some of the posts in here. So many projecting their agendas, professing how the club is inept because we haven't leapt at the first manager available, and because Poch is going to Chelsea.

I've said before that I don't really have a favourite. Nagelsmann would have been nice but, like some others on here, I wasn't getting a good "vibe" about him. Talented undoubtedly, but there's just something that makes me feel he wasn't right. Can't put my finger on it though, just a feeling.

Where u do get a good vibe though is with Slot and, I'll get laughed at by a few one here for this, Postecoglou. I've followed his career since I lived in Brisbane and he turned the Roar into the Australian Barcelona. His philosophy aligns with everything that makes Spurs Spurs. His whole mindset is 'To Dare is to Do.' Every team he's coached has improved significantly. Even Celtic, who didn't really need to, are better than they were.

I'll say it quietly, but I'd really look forward to next season if we got Postecoglou in, just to see us playing the type of Football that we were renowned for for decades. I'd feel that way, but to a lesser extent, if we got Slot too. I couldn't give a fig for what leagues they've managed in, it's the style of Football that I want to see at The Lane (it'll always be The Lane as long as I have breath in my body). The fact that both have been successful at various clubs, transforming them really, says more to me than the trophy haul.

We need a reset, either of these two is a perfect candidate for that, IMO of course.

Thanks. But I don't see 5th as cheap (We're above Woolwich, Newcastle (temporary I'm sure), Aston villa and high above Brighton. We're were you can expect us to be. With transfers of 192 Mil I'm sure we're breathing down Liverpool's neck in total expenditure.
That's the point though. We may look like we're throwing money about but the truth is, it's punts on fees in the hope these players actually get better.
Our rivals mostly identify good players and pay them what they're worth.
Woolwich are punching above their weight vs their wage bill.
Also worth noting we have Kane, Lloris and Ndombele all making our annual wage bill appear higher. Take those 3 out and the average of the rest is probably quite average at best. And we probably will take 2 of them off the wage bill at least. So next season, with no Kane, no Lloris and hopefully no Ndombele, we probably won't be in the top 6 wage payers.

I don't dispute we are where our wage bill says we should be. My issue is we'll always behave that way with wages and by that fact, we'll always be on the outside looking in.
Maybe our so called financial genius needs to change how he spends money. Maybe he's better off spending £350k a week on an absolute world class 31 year old for 2 years on a free or low fee. Maybe sign a Cassemeiro instead of a Bissouma. I'm tired and fed up, but there's plenty of examples of top players moving for low fees and high wages.
But Daniel Greedy can't cope with that.

Anyone giving Greedy credit for manager wages wants to ask themselves how much those wages are Vs what the squad needs.
Conte earned all of £25m over 1.5 seasons.
We needed at least 2 center backs of high quality. We got Lenglet on loan. We probably needed a new no.1. We got Forster on loan and Lloris completely collapsed. We needed a RWB, we signed Spence. We needed to get rid of Ndomebele, Winks, Moura, Sanchez, Dier, Rodon and a few others. They're all still sucking wages.

So paying top dollar for a coach for 18 months to squeeze some blood out of the squad is the cheap way, not the expensive way.

It does always make me wonder how much our selling problem stems from high wages on the deadwood that other clubs don't want to pay or Levy not wanting to take enough of a loss on a player that's flopped.

Because it feels like other clubs manage to get the shit off their books a wee bit more successfully.

(Of course, it's also downstream from shite purchasing policy as well, so a double dip of incompetence by the club)

I like your post and agree with most of it, I know nothing about Postecoglou though at all.

Lots of reports out today, so just need to sort the wheat from the chaff. I can’t help but think that Feyenoord offer of a new contract to Slot is a good thing because it draws it to a close either way and probably quite soon. I wouldn’t be surprised if we’ve made him an offer and he’s weighing up his options now.

It's the ultimate irony. We have tonnes of deadwood earning too much to sell, but refuse to acquire actual talent and pay them what they're worth.
Dier will never leave if he is given a new deal. And if he won't leave, that leaves us in a mess. He will steal a squad space and wage allocation from a potential signing.
