Exactly my point.

If they are after Nelson, probably cant palm him off as average

Tell me what players are above average or good in there? How many of these players would you have at Spurs or how many of these players would you be happy with if Spurs announced them?

Go back a further season the only good player they signed is Maignan.

It's not 2003 anymore, Milan don't sign world beaters anymore, if Milan are a viable option for Nelson then that tells you all you need to know.

I would take:

Thiaw
Dest
Adli (maybe)
Tomori
Maignan
Tonali
Diaz (? for the prem but very talented)
Kalulu (probably)
Leao
Hernandez

Not a bad list of players from one club.

Just looking through our on-loan players and I'd completely forgotten that Lo-Celso was still technically our player. Apparently he's been decent in the 2nd half of the season and still has two years left on his contract iirc.

Destiny Udogie should be like a new signing. Looks like Reguilon is struggling a bit, and with Perisic getting on and Sessegnon always injured it's a good time for him to arrive.

We've got enough RB/RWB for two clubs so I don't see how Djed Spence fits in - especially after failing to pull up trees at Rennes.

I really want to see Gil back in the side next year in an attacking team.

Why would he want to join?

Cos he's on the outside looking in at his current club.
Cos we pay presumably more.
Cos it would constitute a big move for him.

He's barely played here. It's clearly not been a success, surely he'd rather go elsewhere to a club who want him?

On our side I don't even see the point in talking about it.
